1. the test are biased/flawed/unfair... yeah bush probably had it fixed.. 2. I would hate for this to get out, it's been easy to pretend that it is a non-issue. There are no security concerns for linux. Har har. 3. This will always be an issue as long as WE don't work together to fix it, and that requires a little bit of a better attitude. There are issues. 4. I am sure some GNurus don't want the word out, it is much easy to fiddle with others computers when they don't know your doing it.
I am so glad it was pointed out that the image was an illustration. First I was concerned about the big arrow looking object, and immediately there after I began to lose sleep dreaming of the physics behind the black hole corona effect, which shifted into a lazy pondering of the perfect perspective the picture offered us. We should pray, it looks like God is hungry.
Hey guys, I just wanted to say a few more things. dotNet-->if you have directory created(i saw you said cd), but if you have a directory buried to deep it will bitch about not being able to find files. It has to be very shallow.. One folder from root, if not root.
and more bitchin... I love linux.. I use mandrake 9.2. Both of you guys are obviously very computer savy, so i think that precludes you from the actual question. There are alot of trivial issues that prevent Linux from destroying Microsoft like it should and will do. I want it to. I don't think that saying there are no issues helps to resolve the core problems, and there are obviously some or we wouldn't be talking. What can we do to change it, to make it better and guarantee that Linux will take its place? First we have to find the issues. I feel that many of mine were valid and reiterated throughout the column. I strive to percieve the issue from the point of view that was requested. We should all do that. Think about the folks that don't know what a compiler is, and how to traverse via command line the myriad of config files. Sure they are in english, but they differ from the registry of windows. The registry is something that 90 percent of windows home users know nothing of. Yet on linux familiarity with config files is a must. So how to fix that? First we have to admit it and talk about it. It is so easy for us that know somethings to do, we take it for granted. Disable usb on your laptop to install redhat, all the quirks..
No i haven't used an antivirus software program for my linux box. I wouldn't know where to start. I feel less secure on it than my windows box. Windows is intuitive.. What can be done to capture that..
Anything i missed, let me know. I am sure I sound like a loser with no idea. The only idea i have is the one i got from my personal struggle to learn linux. Thank god I am comfortable with computers, most of the world isn't.
1. no uniform installer
w. no uniform uninstaller
3. permissions...:)
4. a billion configuration files
5. how do i talk to all my windows stuff
6. drivers, see #1 and #2
And lastly Why does every one have to have their own distro, with their own package manager. Linux is supposed to be this great free software movement, Lets get it together and find A path.
I want to help. let me know what i can do...
I think there needs to be a standard of education accountability within the college school structure. Current standards hire seemingly based soley upon accolades while neglecting teaching ability. Students have no rights. They are ripped at every avenue and forced to acquire mounds of debt. Education should be free. It seems the US college structure is built just to lock students into a fixed path of repayment and service. Education is not about jobs. It is about learning. Stop being subserviant. Review more teachers. If they can't teach or speak the language they should have to take classes, and buy books just like all the kids they screw yearly. High school teachers would outperform most college proffesors easily in a teaching evaluation.
LIke you I live in an area with few broadband options, basically satallite or none. I have been using direcway for over 2 years. Initially as a one way subscriber and currently as a two way subscriber using the direcway 6000. I am very happy with the service. I don't recommend downloading large files. There is a cap on downloading band width, under Direcways limit downloading the latest linux iso is basically impossible. The lag makes online gaming an non issue, unless your playing spades.. I think the cost is a little high considering equipment costs and monthly fees. Proffessional installation is required for the two way systems due to the danger of getting your hand or head in the way of a high power broadcast up to the satallite.
In general i am happy, customer support has been sent to India(like our mars mission), but response to issues is usually pleasant and productive.
My home is networked cheaply using a couple of netgear switches, but I haven't used Linux to hit the web yet. I am a linux newbie and unsure of any security risks, but I was assured it would work with the 6000; albeit officially unsupported.
I think we all should. This is the only way to let them know they are not making us happy. If we could affect the total number of hits they get during the commercial test it would send the correct signal.
I have heard that the board is three dee, just like the one we had as a kid only simulated. All my favorite pieces are back, even the king. I just love games where a miniscule minor piece can rise to power. Then of course there is the return of the "must take your jump rule", only in the new version you "really" have to take your jumps.
How does the open source movement intend to counter the political and financial resources of the influential powers that be as they move in the legal arena to stifle the progress of our right to choice?

Why not? Why not find a linux advocate that cares and also is a lawyer. So we set up a community effort to pool our resources and counter the threat that big corporations have always imposed. We could beat their cases in court, ban together to change the law. Since big business has money we need to have cohesion.
i have to reply to you because your a coward. try to find the courage to say your name. harharhar... mine is john garner. i still like the book and you can *&%^-off if you don't like it. the guy asked for a good summer read. i gave him one. you did what exactly?
I want to be a mad man.. comeon.. vote for me..
let me know if i will need a license. its only fair that I pay for something we all use.
and charge them to breath it..

You could redo the entire movie with these new games.

I guess this is usefull if your going to crash the ship into a planet or something.

given the rate that the code is growing maybe it is just drivers.
