The books are cheaper here in Australia as well, all of my textbooks for 1st year uni were only about $100AU each, and from that we get a few percent rebate from the government plus co-op discounts which end up being about $20 off the marked price for a $100 text.

  7. Re:Call of Duty on Best Original Games of 2003? · · Score: 1

personally i woulden't call COD realistic, it's more of a very atmospheric game. the AI is way to scripted in order to be a realistic game, like they always wait for you to keep moving even though your not the commanding officer. that combined with the fact that your commanding officer is generally invincible really takes away the whole "realism" aspect.

However, one thing the game really does do quite well is put you in the middle of the action. This is the first WWII game where the single player element has AI that, however scripted, is good enough to be really fun to play alongside with. also the sound in this game is just truly awsome! they really took the best sound from medal of honour and made it more intense....and simply put more of it in i guess :p. there's alway so much happening, along with the incredible detail to boot (the echo from the MG42 for example).

hmm, makes me glad i'm doing electrical engineering at uni then :)

in the scary future maybe they will brain scan all the students and refuse entry to anyone with a possible tendancy to rebel...then anyone in the previous generation becomes a greatly desired individual in order to create devices that fool the scanners.

but yeah, even if the equipment itself recognises that it's being used to copy music and people start making there own then the purchasing of components such as our humble capacitor/transistor/resistor will probably be made illegal. but then someone will start illegaly leaking them from the powers above or making there own etc....it's all just a big circle, a digital arms race where finally the geeks get the upper hand.

  12. A simple rule about copying music: on Sony, Intel To Push Content Protection · · Score: 5, Insightful

If you can put it through speakers, you can copy it. Simple. It's only a matter of time before someone with high quality gear decides to make a copy for everyone. Sure it might slow down the spread of stolen music, but it can't be stopped.
