It hasn't even been launched yet, it's in beta. I'd imagine the people in this beta have signed some kind of agreement where they say they cannot do anything if they are adversly affected by Gmail, so what's the problem? Of course it's a different matter when it's launched to the public.
Of course the worst job you can have depends on which type of job you like. For example one person may hate something where you have to do the same thing over and over again (for example working in a factory), wheras someone else might love it.
What's the world coming to? Why can't we simply limit ourselves to portable music? Must we *always* have 2.9 billion forms of electronic media at our fingertips in the ever rare chance that our natural surroundings ever become boring? Where does it say the device is soley for entertainment? Can you not see the business implications of this device?
A device that does all the things you want, and some you don't, very poorly. Mabye I'm just being a bit cinicle, but I've seen to many devices such as this that haven't lived up to expectations.
At the price of $99, I think it might be worth the investment for the hacking potential alone I don't think that's a very wise comment, how do you know how hackable without taking it to pieces first?
Call me a troll, but I think it would really help the OSS community if we focused our efforts on one or two distros, not 10 or 20. There aren't 10 or 20 distros, there are hundreds, perhaps thousands, and the reason there's so many is because different people want different things, for example Debian is better at running webservers on than Mandrake. If the two distros were spliced together, the package would be much bigger, and most people would only use half of it anyway.
Is this 10.0 release more important than the 9.0 release? As 1.0 releases are always more important than 0.9 releases. Hope you can follow my train of thought:)
When you're looking for open source developers, you need to make sure they can't just get the program to run well, but also to make the code look neat and easy to read, as there's a good chance lots of other people will be wanting to edit it for their own needs.
I disagree. I'm running a Windows XP workstation with dual 2.4 GHz Xeons, and I'm not at all disappointed... neither are the 50 or 60 other developers surrounding me which are running on the same boxes. What exactly would be our grounds for dissapointment? That your company spent $3750x2x55= $412500 on processors alone (assuming you have the 1mb MP model Xeons), when you could have the same performance for a quarter of that price.
I attend a university that is currently building a beowulf cluster, and when it came down to making a decision, the deciding factor was price/performance ratio. While it may make sense for enterprises to go with the Xeon, the Opteron is a clear winner, in my mind, when money is an object. Of course, if you have the money to burn, the Xeon may seem to be the more obvious choice. Even if someone has money to burn, wouldn't it be better to get more performance anyway?

Linux is worked on LOADS more than Windows, so how can it be a 'Tortoise to Microsoft's Hare'?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the MPAA only control motion pictures? Legally, that is.
