Thirdly, the US wants to take control of the Earth's electromagnetic spectrum, allowing US war planners to dominate mobile phones, PDAs, the web, radio, TV and other forms of modern communication. That could see entire countries denied access to telecommunications at the flick of a switch by America.

65 million years is a LONG time change. Studies show, without doubt, climate could not change at the current pace without human intervention. Let me point you to a study. I don't care how many rocks you get off to looking at, if you read this response to a similar argument of Rush Limbaugh's (he's an idiot), it may just tell you more about climate change than the religious school you got your degree at presumably did.
AMD's proposed move to the Barton Springs watershed is a threat to the health of Barton Springs and the Edwards Aquifer, and therefore a threat to the long-term health of Austin.
Here's how AMD's proposed move threatens Barton Springs:
Create pollution in Barton Creek, Sycamore Creek, Williamson Creek, and Barton Springs from construction and post-construction runoff
Encourage employees to buy homes in the Barton Springs watershed, thereby boosting sprawl in exactly the wrong area
Encourage other companies and residential and retail developments to follow AMD into the Barton Springs watershed
Increase pressure to spend hundreds of millions more taxpayer dollars expanding roads in the Barton Springs watershed (when we could buy out potential development lands for conservation for a fraction of the cost if AMD and others would honor community plans)
Reverse over 25 years of community policy against locating major employers in the Barton Springs watershed
I've been an AMD loyalist for years, but now I'm totally questioning who they are. I hope more information on this endeavor can be found.
I'm completely convinced all the dupes and extended mysterious future posts(Not to mention increase paid subscriptions) are merely to increase page views and therefore site reloads to increase revenue. There's just no way the editors could post so many dupes within hours by mistake.
If they choose to do that, it's to the Chinese public's loss. It's unfortunate that the citizens can't uproot and overcome this at least without a fair amount of debate in their society. Fortunately I don't think it has anything to do with the rest of us though.
Yes, actually it is about half the speed on Linux. But I still think it will become faster. I also think Wine/CVS may catch up to WineX/Cedega in a year or so. After all, the real goal is to not have to leave Linux for atnything.
Libertarians often have this funny idea that just because something is a good thing, there is a financial incentive to make it happen. This is in reality rarely the case.
But oh, that really is quite often the case. If the government just decided to start funding businesses, any business really for that matter, then the business has less incentive to compete and improve their product.
Now the Libertarian idea is that the government has three responsibilities: 1. Protect the people. 2. Breakup harmful monopolies. 3. Reduce negative externalities from business.
Point three can be simplified pretty easy. Regulate things like pollution levels, which businesses may not find reason to control, and support things like basic research. When businesses are all competing in a rough market, they lean toward better immediate margins as parent said. But the government would offset that negative externality by throwing money at causes with a possible great future benefit or just basic research to advance knowledge of certain things around us, those that would not be in a position profitable for private bussinesses to ensue. But any way, more funding would be donated to science, since people have more money to spend, instead of watching it get redristributed through the country by the unfortunate means of vote, which is a 'true democracy' as Thomas Jefferson fiercly warned us against.
Why wouldn't a software keystroke logger simply hook the "focus-change" message
A 'focus-change' message does not come out through the keyboard, and therefore is not logged. The best a keystroke logger can do toward a shift change is like/0K or/0M or similar for the arrow keys. I've played around with a few for fun.
If you're on a PC that you suspect may contain logging equipment or trojans or anything similar, you can alawys avoid accurate keystroke logging by typing part of a password per se, and the then clicking the other side(s) to type in the rest. That way typing is scrambled. Loggers can usually record the arrow keys, but not mouse clicks.
A lot of times code has to go through a lot of strict review by the app's board before it can be implemented into the OSS. But, even if most of the learning coders' code wasn't implemented, they would still learn something which would be beneficial to their overall knowledge and ability to find a job. And there is always a need for people to write hardware drivers.
Whoa, mad props to the guy who's not only the first to copy my sig (as far as I know), but ALSO unintentionally dupe my comment! *added to friends list!*
Whoa, whoa, whoa! You have a giant miniature poodle?? So do you get like the advantages of a big dog, like watchdog ability and not accidentally stepping on it, and the advantages of a small dog, like not eating as much and pooping less? Or is it just really small, and eats and shits extra all over the place?
Still, the most important feature is that it's bootable. (And some still aren't) I love having Feather Linux on a keychain. The Cruzer Mini has done me well.
Reminds me of the old bumper sticker- "Bush is a Punk-Ass Chump" That I always misread (or perhaps more accurately) as "Bush is a Punk-Ass Chimp"

Politians come in similar shrink-wrapped, advertisement laden, deceptive packages. It's easy to get them confused.
Let me be the first to say, I'd be afraid to vote on that thing. Especially libertarian..

Cedega/WineX is $15 for the minimal 3 month subscription which would get you all the precompiled binaries. Not too bad.
