The origin of the bug is Windows and its shell: protocol, Mozilla simply handled those links back to the OS ad it does with protocols it doesn't know how to handle, other programs like MS Word were vulnerable to the very same exploit.
It was fixed 24 hours after full disclosure, and only Win32 versions of Mozilla were vulnerable, doesn't this ring a bell?
Before someone starts saying Firefox is vulnerable to exploits just as IE, this exploits crashes the browser and only that, now compare this to IE's execution of arbitrary code.
No software is perfect, but still, Firefox is clearly ahead.
I use a WHOIS guard service for all my domains, for a fee the company I registered my domains at lists their email/phone/address instead of mine, and forwards whatever they receive to me.
This way my domains have valid info but at the same time not everyone out there can get my address or phone number.
... WTF? I mean why is PainKiller there and Doom 3 is not?
I can understand having HL2, FarCry, and UT2K4, but PainKiller doesn't really offer the revolutionary gameplay to deserve being there, while Doom 3 doesn't.
I'm the submitter of the story, as I wrote in my journal, I put that story together in no time, minutes after receiving the newsletter, don't know if I was faster and this was the reason, when did you submit your story?
The editors didn't change anything other than the title btw (it was Gentoo 2004.3 released).
I should have linked to this in the story, here it's anyway:
[...] Valve has announced that they will be delivering an RC (release candidate) to Vivendi around the 15th of this month. That does not mean that HL2 will be out immediately thereafter. Vivendi will still have to approve the RC, a process that could take another two or three weeks, depending on their QA department and how fit the RC is to be released. If it were rejected, Valve would have to cook up another one and submit that for approval. Once an RC is approved, we should get a "gone gold" announcement. Those of you who preloaded HL2 and intend to buy it online would *may* be allowed to purchase it shortly afterward and start playing it once you've downloaded the last few files (I'm still not certain whether Valve contractually obliged to wait until it's on the shelves - I don't have Fragmaster's psychic spy network). For those of you still intending to buy a physical copy, it would be at least another few weeks before the game hit the shelves; duplication, packaging and shipping take a while. Damn our lack of transporters. - Jabberwocky
Why the heck is this troll? I was going to post something similar.
What I'm afraid of now, with the long delay of the Linux binaries, most Linux gamers will use Wine or get Windows somehow, and play the game, and when the binaries and boxed sets are released, a minority will buy or download, and it'll apprear as if there were no Linux gamers out there.
Id, where are our binaries?
Re:Does this work with older cards?

OpenGL 2.0 Released
·
· Score: 5, Informative
The new functionalities were in the previous versions as extensions AFAIK, OpenGL 2.0 adds them to the standard.
So (unless I missed something that wasn't previously an extension), you just need a new driver for your card and you'll be set.
Interestingly, Tim Berners-Lee uses Drupal to run his blog.

Another question: What if one of your neighbors starts downloading warez or kiddie pr0n, who'd be responsible then?

Some email software cannot be configured. ...
;)
Apparently it's so long that their scripts result in 400 Bad Request when I try to sign up.
And who the heck modded this intersting? Funny yes, but interesting?
*sigh* mods these days
Heh, the game is older than me, and yet, I play it all the time ;)
This is one timeless game.
If you have a scientific breakthrough, please wait till the next year to announce it, otherwise you won't make it the top 10 list.
Something similar for Mozilla and Linux:
The Mozilla integration project for Linux desktops

Interesting, but why isn't it XUL based like this one?
Cool, I'll download the latest version from the project's CVS ;)
oh and has also helped answer some fundamental questions regarding the universe has turned fifty today!
Too bad it didn't answer samzenpus's regarding the comma.
I mean the grand parent's link, it starts downloading the Windows version no matter what OS you have.
The product page, that I linked to, detects OS version.
OK, but still, that's the Windows version.
You should have linked to the product page, I don't know how their counters work, but just to make sure.
Get Firefox, take back the web.
And yeah, the product page detects the OS and offers the correct link.

Is it you??
Google doesn't covert links in the cached page, you need to dig out cache of every page you want to visit.
And you can't be sure that Google has cached your page in the first place.
Goatse-links trolls will be back, with slashcode showing the same domain for every link, I think CmdrTaco has some work to do now.
You don't need to go that far, check out the mirrored version of the front page of /. , almost all of the links take you back to the original /. .
