improving windows,i DO realize that this very well may hurt linux, not help it in anyway. say microsoft (though this is unlikely) decides to just create its own linux distro!, well in a sense. itll be called windows Li, however it wouldnt really be linux, but based off of unix, a linux clone maybe. their own written kernel, etc etc. now imagine this, i would NOT be gpled, or have ANY user friendly license. no one in the open source community would benefit, and non-hardcore linux users may very well switch to this microsoft OS. where does that leave linux? falling behind instead of over taking, which i truley belive linux is doing now, it is moving up.
i would just not respond to this survey at all.
theres a big interest in analog ( and analog 'like') synths. especially the amazing roland juno's, and the juno 106, one of the first hybrid analog filter, digital osc synth. a very basic synth, but its stability while retaining that warm analog sound is very sought after. the 106 is one of the first to implement midi also.
lose backtick and tilde? obviously youve never done any BASH shell scripting (or written any programs). and as for tilde, do you use the internet ever? how did you get to this website.
but runlevels enable you to truly customize your system for your needs. of course, you can have one runlevel startx, while another runs login. from there on you could have an http runlevel where apache would get started, or another runlevel that would be for your desktop use. this would be good for a non-dedicated server that doubles as a desktop machine. and lets not forget halt and restart runlevels, its important to make sure the system gets taken down properly. anyway my point is that systemV runlevels are excellent, and the scripts, while not self explanitory, are easy to figure out when you RTFM!
this looks like the time when finally the patriot act will be challenged by the supreme court....hopefully. i believe our system works, it just does so slowley.
neo didnt manipulate the reality out side of the matrix, they never left the matrix. thats what the whole architect scene and neo stopping the squid thing was trying to tell you.
alot of people didnt get this. when i figured it out and told my friends they just laughed at me.
i may be wrong, but i recall reading that the average global temperature was actually HIGHER than it is now in the middle ages.
must of been all those fire breathing dragons.
yeah but if they ask for you email address and you give it to them, it is not spam anymore. spam is unsolicited. you giving them your email says that they can email you. unless they say they WONT send spam, but yeah, thats gonna happen.
"MS is doing everything they can to keep people using updated software. Literally they make you go out of your way to run out-ot-date unpatched software. At some point the blame has to shift from MS to the end-user."
EULAs aside, yes you are right, the blame has to shift to the end user-- for still using microsoft products.
i for one recieve NO spam what soever. i run my own email server with NO spam filter either. i just never post my email address... ANYWHERE. it is easy to avoid recieving it, dont post it anywhere, and dont sign up for those "win one million dollars by shooting the moving monkey" ads.
now to be honest this IS excluding the occasional spam from inktomi trying to get me to sign up to get my site listed on their search engine, but compared to others who recieve hundreds or more pieces of spam mail a day, this is nothing.
whatever happend to making the punishment fit the crime? you are going to punish children who legally are not responsible by sending their parents away to prison ?? further more a fine that could potentially make these families go bankrupt and poor is not a proper 'punishment' either!! how the hell could you justify that, when these companies will be around whether the lawsuites whent through or not. who cares if metallica is angry about their IP, they will still have their money and record sales, its the people who the RIAA is targetting that we should be conserned about. you want to ruin peoples lives for something which in the opinion of many should not even be illegal. fade away Jack.

Isnt it assumed that anything 'published' on the internet (without any kind of security or otherwise) is intended to be downloaded? They say it was not authorized to be put up for download, but it was anyway. Further more it WASNT done by authorized parties. So whoever downloaded it can use it, and might even be able to make the argument that their license should be honored by Nullsoft...
