Hey man you are so right. I never thought about this aspect because I always thought VChip is a stupid thing since I would never use it. Thanks for openning my eyes.
The problem is that means dividing the pie to 6 billion instead of couple of millions. West loses a lot, the rest gain too little, if the West loses (less inovation and degrading of business climat) than the rest of the world will loose too. So in the end everybody will lose. This is the main problem.
I don't know... your argument looks like putting the carriage before the horse.
Linux will not get market share because game makers make software for it (because in *general* they don't and you can't deny that), Linux will get market share if you can run your favorite (already existent) games on it, and then when Linux will have a larger share game makers will have to make Linux native games (they will not risk depending on WineX and its quirks when a big percentage of gamers run Linux)
Anyway I think it's a poor argument to say that game makers don't make games for Linux because there is such think as WineX. There might be one or two cases when a company decide not to release a Linux version because of that, but this is not the big picture, there are other reasons, Linux not having a big market share being one of the most important.
How to get more market share: being more compatible. How? WineX. If you hope for game makers to help Linux and release Linux native games only because they find the penguin cute... too bad, I don't think it's very likely.
Get real, how many game makers will have incentive to make a Linux port while Linux is only 1-5% of the market?
When Linux is going to have > 20% (or put here any large enough number) than game makers will not risk not providing a Linux port. Till than, Linux community has to fight to get to that 20% and this is one of the ways "look it runs ms office, it runs your games".
But I was thinking more about +flexibility+. I mean if you don't do something till the last moment you have more time reevaluate and change the path of action and if you are better informed as time passes (I always justify my lack action this way;)
The iPod is a tool for transporting and listening to high quality music of your choosing, on demand. The ability to listen to AM/FM radio runs counter to this purpose.
I don't agree. iPod is a device for listening music. Period. Why impose artificial delimitations? It would be nice if you can channel music for other source not only its own harddrive withouth make it heavier and without complicating the interface too much.
The main point is that the DVDs will be replaced by fast connections. Why go to video store to rent a movie (or wait to be mailed to you) when you can click a button?
Laziness is probably the most important thing that moves the world ahead;)
I don't think this is the case. I got a "trojan horse found" message from Symantec AV. The file at fault was a.gif not.gif.exe
I have no idea how it runs I assume it use a vulnerability in IE that make it run files with different extesions.
I was browsing a shopping store on Yahoo and I got a message from Symantec Antivirus that a Trojan Horse has been detected in a.gif file (I was using Opera, hope nothing bad came out of this)
Yeah, but Opera has also an e-mail client.
And to have all the Opera functionality you have to add a lot of extensions to Firefox.
I like both. Firefox is free. Opera is GREAT.
How about "crash-testing" the computers first?
How about implemention technology that stops this madness.
The problem is not human behavior the problem is the poor state of the technology.
In a sense human behavior is a given, technology is something that can be changed much easily.
Guys, the issue is that Opera is far better than IE. I can't use IE anymore, I always try to use mouse gesture... even in Word or Excel...
I have used both FireFox and Opera, I settled for Opera, but that's personal preference. Firefox is great too and of course free.
Any browser that bites in the MS monpoly is good, we should all support companies like Opera that make good products that beat the crap out of Microsoft. In fact appreciate Opera for having the guts to charge for otherwise a "free" as in beer product.
I wonder, if the hacker takes into consideration that usually poeple just add a number to their password when they have to change it how much additional time he needs to crack it? 1 second?
I cannot access MSN.com I constantly get this error message with Opera:
"Sorry, due to heavy traffic on the network, the page you're trying to reach is temporarily unavailable.
You can: Wait a few minutes and try again. Click your browser's Refresh button now to try reconnecting. Click your browser's Back button to return to the previous page.
I will wait till Firefox 1.0 will pop-up in Debian unstable :)
Good work Asa though, congrats to all the guys at Mozilla.
Hey, I just bought a 1-GB I-stick... I can stick it in the ass without problem ;)
I can fit a library in my ass, that's nice, you have to love technology...

Mod parent up!
Good piece of info.
IMHO Firefox should come with this 'on' by default and have a link in Menu to this config page (something like 'advance setup').
I can confirm that Debian unstable is damn stable. In fact I've done all the upgrades and didn't encounter one problem.
I only wish Windows or other OS be that stable when they are officially released.
Pop-ups? What are those? I use Opera and Firefox, is there something that I'm missing out?
I agree!
I thought I went colorblind.
Please fix.

How many old PCs are and how many old Macs? It's demand and supply law, not quality.

No problems with IE. Any ideas why this happens?
