As a man with a girl friend (I know its odd for slash dot) I can say that I really hope the industry starts producing more games for women. I love to play games and I spend at least 50% of my free time doing it, but the girl friend gets pissed because she doesnt like games and feels im ignoring her. However, if she liked games it would be something we could do together. This would make my life unbelivably easier, as im sure it would most male gamers. So please please please start getting women to like games if only for my own sanity!!!!

Any such statement as yours that ethics and morality are entirely based upon your culture are entirely up for debate. For instance there are a number of moral theories such as cultural ethics which is what you are talking about, ethical egoism which states that the being should act ONLY in its own best intrest at all times as this is best for the whole, and of course you have many forms of Religous ethics which basicly states that absolute truth and consequently ethics derives from the word of some deity. So for you to say that "Who's this guy to decide ethics and morality for everyone else? It is important to remember that ethics and morality are based on culture and social norms" is actually pretty hypocritical. Maybee this guy has a different moral philosophy. Perhaps he belives in absolute truths and that he knows exactly what those are (sounds like most christians, muslims, ect...) that I know. No one has yet to prove anything about ethics so just remember that when you post comments like the one above you are doing exactly what your accusing him of doing.

Hey the plain fact of it is that licensing software is immoral. Lets just apply copyright law and licensing to some things other than software. If i go to the store and buy a pie and run it through some kind of chemical analysis to find out the recipe and then I start making my own pies from that is that illegal. NO of course it isnt. The fact is that I bought the hardware I bought the game and If I want to make copies of it then thats my moral right. If i want to modify my hardware thats my moral right. Unfortunately moral and legal are not the same thing. Copyright law needs to be abolished. If you buy something you bought it final the end.

sorry but i would argue against finger printing.
i dont want any one having my finger prints and the periodic ads and kits the government sends out to parents so they can "finger print their children in case they're abducted" make me sick. The FBI wants info on everyone all the time so they can track you down if you do something they dont like. So yah keeping the dna and finger prints of convicted criminals is something we cant avoid but keeping that of private citizens is absolutely intolerable.
Look I love linux. Its a superior OS and its free. Its hard to beat that. That is for anyone who really knows anything about computers. You see most people hardly know how to use a mouse and consequently those people will never use linux. It all boils down to this. For the average user (idiot) Windows is the superior operating system. Yes I actualy said that. The average person doesnt care about security or even performance and they obviously dont mind when there computer crashes at least once a week. To them it doesnt matter. What does matter to them is not having to think and Windows (and Microsoft in general) does that better than anyone. Face it using Windows takes absolutely no knowledge what so ever of anything except how to breath and move your fingers. Linux on the other hand takes quite a bit of know how and general computing knowledge. Even when using one of the desktop Gui's that usualy come with any linux build you still have to know how to set it up and some things are still rather difficult to do. Not to mention the fact that Linux only offers peer suport and not direct support from the company (this is rather important for buisnesses too and usualy more than makes up for the price of licensing). In short Windows IS the superior operating system for the masses and will continue to be untill all us Linux people wake up and create a product that does what Windows does only better (ie. no crashing or security holes).

It wont matter even if they do. Fuel cell technology will never be massed produced for the automotive industry untill the current oil companys (ie. exon, shell ect...) control it. Why do you think hybrids took off like they did. Its because the oil companys still had a stake in that. However for the trulely dedicated gamer (or masochist) you should check out a machine shown in last months EGM. A man (forgot his name) created an arcade style version of pong which not only shocks your hand when you miss a ball but also burns you and whips you. All you need after that is some black leather some latex and some hand cuffs and your good to go.
Theres really only one big glaring problem with this game. ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY FLIGHT SIMS OR DOG FIGHT IN ANY WAY WITH A GAME PAD!!!! Unless you have some kind of flight stick controler for the xbox youll hate this game. In fact youll probably hate it anyway since a.)Consoles in general have never mad good sim games and b.) People interested in online gamming should stick to the PC. The only even moderately succesful game for xbox live is ghost recon which might as well be counter strike only harder to play because of the controler. So lets just face it. And yes this will deffinitaly happen as it has most certainly happen before. Companies have no respect for the indvidual and never will.

It needs to spend more money on quantum computing research which in recent times seems to have fallen by the wayside. While everyone is rushing to build that next computer of super computer that is twice as fast as the last one, we could be rushing to build one thats several million times faster than anything current technological approaches will ever be able to reach. According to certain famous formulas (sorry forgot the guys name) computer chips are only going to get faster and faster as they get smaller and smaller, but eventualy theyll be to small to improve on and thats where we need quantum computing. If you look at the formula (sorry about the name again) and do the math youll see that this time is quickly approaching, and if we arent ready to continue to progress past that point the whole bottom could fall out of the tech industry

8 cpu's in a computer never garauntes 800% speed compared to a single cpu. Theres actualy quite alot of overhead in mult-processer computing and it can increase exponetialy with the number of processors, depending on the architecture of the system. Not to mention that all software interaction with such a system has to be specialy tailored to work with that number of processors and that particular architecure. Of course we can assume the last since im sure all the techies in pixar have accounted for that. However, my point is that just throwing more processors at a problem creates niether an elegant solution nor usualy a solution at all.
Its kind of intresting to think that dependeing on the number of stars in the galaxy and this astounding rate of "Big Bada Boom" (super novae) that the entire galaxy could be gone by now. I mean since were looking at old light, about a 140 million years old according to Mondoz, the whole galaxy could be just one big cluster of black holes. In fact, it seems logical that the rate of decay in the stars in that galaxy should be increasing since the radiation from one star going super novae tends to speed up the decay of those around it. So if this is indeed true the rate of supernovae per year could actualy be getting much much faster very quickly. Or I could just be a total idiot doing nothing but wasting time at work.
