The damsel-in-distress is trying to get away from the axe murderer and jumps into a car with this technology. Little does she know that the aforementioned axe murderer slipped an alcohol swab through a slightly open window thus thwarting her attempts to start the car and get away.
I use all three major desktop OSes regularly. IMHO, Linux in the form of Debian and Ubuntu are only slightly more useable than Windows only because the underlying OS is built well e.g. none of this registry crap or installing major applications in such a way that it's impossible to make a bootable backup. The GUI though is just as embarrassing compared to MacOS which is simply elegant. You're never fighting with the GUI. Oh and the simple fact that Windows lies like a rug about the fact that it's not ready to use when you boot it until you let it sit there for 20 minutes while it does major housecleaning is irritating.
Seriously, does anyone really WANT to do the jobs that automation is supposedly taking? Do you want to be a supermarket checkout person, a tire-fitter, a fruit/veg picker?
As economics once again shifts, there are even more people without enough competence to work in that economy so they have to sponge off people who are competent enough to do the work but not smart enough to avoid the leeches.
If by "bad for you" you get your heart and soul crushed every time you realize some sh*t-for-brains got something they didn't deserve when you busted your ass to earn it, then yes, it's bad for you. But if you toughen up and realize that the world is full of weasels whose skill is blowing smoke up other people's asses, it won't bother you that much and hopefully you'll find a way to pull back the curtain on them.
This is the equivalent of those sob-story TV ads showing some kid in a third-world country who will DIE unless you send money NOW. Hint: the money doesn't get to the kid and the kid's gonna die anyway. By the same token, since temperature rise is inevitable, then you don't need my money.
Ebay needs to get rid of the Buy It Now feature entirely and go back to being a pure auction site. Furthermore, buyers need to be penalized for returning items they buy when everybody knows they're just trying to flip the item for a quick buck.
So is everybody going to pay the same amount for the service or is this going to be some scam where first-world countries subsidize third-world...again?
Here's what a lot of people don't seem to understand: Apple's Facetime problem is a bug. Facebook's issue is a feature. Governments, particularly left-wing governments, get their jollies punishing people for being less-than-perfect. Perfection isn't a standard that's achievable. Ergo, Apple shouldn't be punished for a bug. Facebook, on the other hand, sold the data to a third party. It just happens that the third party that brought this issue to light was working for the right side of the American political spectrum. I'd be willing to bet that if the Clinton campaign had won and used Facebook information to do so, you'd either see news stories about how the campaign was so modern and effective because it leveraged social media or you'd never hear about it. One should never think that a political weapon can only be fired in one direction.
20% of 40 is 8 so basically, the company gets nothing out of this for salaried employees. For hourly employees, the company gets 8 hours of work for free.
So, there's an old joke about how the trustees of a university want to find out if the professors know their stuff. They come up with the question "What's 2 plus 2?" as the test. First, they go to the math department and ask the question. The professors say, "Oh, that's easy. It's four." Then they go to the physics department. Those professors say, "Oh, it's 4.0000000 with an uncertainty of another decimal place." Then they go to the college of engineering and ask those professors. They say, "Just a minute, let me get my handbook."
Point being, that trying to program from memory is a waste of time. Trying to write code quickly is also a waste of time. One should be thinking about the approach and the logic rather than regurgitating the details of some function call. It's entirely possible that there are multiple solutions to the same problem.
The fourth part of the joke is when they go over to the business school's accounting professors and ask, "What's 2 plus 2?" The professor looks around to make sure nobody can hear and whispers, "What do you want it to be?"
I'm sure the bullsh*t and drivel that passes for an elementary school education these days has a lot to do with it. What would really be interesting to see is whether or not there is a link between playing violent video games and DECREASED aggression.
Seriously, I'd like to see this thing write a term paper on some piece of dull-as-dishwater literature and have a pretentious professor grade it. Hint: the curtains were f*cking blue!
A dedicated network for public safety use only is currently being built because they know that they're going to need it if everyone can hog as much bandwidth as they want.
IMHO, this survey should separate languages that are compiled versus those that are interpreted.

Further evidence that people with lots of money and no common sense are a problem.
Seriously, does anyone really WANT to do the jobs that automation is supposedly taking? Do you want to be a supermarket checkout person, a tire-fitter, a fruit/veg picker?
Seriously? Apple had this capability for something like 25 years now.
As economics once again shifts, there are even more people without enough competence to work in that economy so they have to sponge off people who are competent enough to do the work but not smart enough to avoid the leeches.
The key is to teach the talented to code WELL. Hint: you don't do that in Javascript or on Windows.

I prefer "Ostensibly Coherent".

What a crock of sh*t. (As a side note, why does sh*t come in crocks?)

Yes, it's a very distinctive smell. The smell of bullsh*t.
And Mulder will have to schlep to Antarctica to rescue her.
If you can watch the facial expressions and demeanor of every passenger, you could pick out the ones that are about to go batcrap crazy.

I guarantee you that a lot of people without 3D printed guns have hit lists of lawmakers. 65,853,514 likely have one with at least one name on it.
