Well, we all know that the saturday morning Mario 3-themed cartoon was vastly superior to the Captain Lou affairs, anyway. See also the Saturday morning Sonic cartoon vs. the afterschool one (although they BOTH featured Jaleel White (aka Steve Urkel) as the voice of the title character).
I think my favorite mario cartoon was the Super Mario 3 cartoons they had on saturday mornings on like NBC or whatever. I think it was somehow related to the Captain N series. Anyways i have fond memories of waking up and watching those episodes in the winter of 1992 or therabouts. It's for that reason that I shun the current mario's italian accent (he was from brooklyn, obvs) and the princess's name is Toadstool not Peach.
You can't use the "trendiness" argument here.. The simpsons in its current state is a mere shadow of its former glory. The characters, who used to be if not realistic then believable, are now all clearly 1-trick ponies who are too 1-dimensional for people to really connect to in the same way as they did in episodes such as for example the one where lisa falls in love with the dustin hoffman character.
The humor, which used to be moslty clever and subtle, now is very basic and over-the-top.
And also, although there have always been celebrities, it's very clear that any B-list celebrity can go on and play his or herself, often interacting with the family in a very implausible and arbitrary fashion. For an example of this excessive use of celebrities, see the "rock star" episode of a few years ago, and the preview for tonight's episode leads me to believe it will be pretty similar. Horrible.
I know this rant is not particulary insightful, but it is still near festivus time so thank you for bearing with my airing of grievances. Thank GOD family guy is back!!!
Absolutely nothing personal, but I honestly think at this point it's safe to day that the "3 or 4 obligatory comments explaining the difference in international FF numbering" is right up there with yakov smirnov and welcoming our new overlords in terms of a Slashdot trend.. Does anyone else agree?
18 years, 18 years, She got one of yo kids got you for 18 years
I can just picture someone tracking down an anonymous sperm donor and trying to get child support out of them. Or is this subject covered in the contract you sign at the clinic?
I would use this tool MUCH more often if it didn't have trouble with archived folders in Outlook. I get tons of mail so I have an Outlook AutoArchive every 14 days. (since I have an exchange server I don't have any other mail client options fwiw) However, when the mail is autoarchived and moved to a different folder, Google will show a search result but not actually link to it since it has moved, and I have to manually search for it by date. I haven't tried this new version but my wishlist would include options to re-index every night or something like that.
I can't believe there's already about 15 comments and nobody's made the remarkably easy joke yet about how the tech/games industry is definitely "box"-less.
Well, thanks to the reverse-wiring of the human brains, it's well established that only us lefties are truly in our right minds.
Famous lefties include Joan of Arc, Michaelangelo, Paul McCartney, and David Ortiz.
If there was any way to get rid of Joe Buck or Tim McCarver during Fox National MLB games, I'd pay probably 8 billion dollars for it. "Brandon Arroyo is going for the Red Sox tommorow.."
Funny, I used to drive a Geo Metro. My first car. It was decent enough as an everyday car, but it demanded a lot of attention both to drive and to maintain. Probably qualifies your allegory pretty well.
Seems to me like the quality of an open source program is directly corelated to how popular it is, since more users directly leads to more people fixing nagging bugs.
Well, there is a strong chance that the reviewer fucked around with the layout. I mean, look at his hideous taskbar setup.. the thing must take up a quarter of the screen! Call me a traditionalist, but I like to keep my shortcuts on my desktop or in my start menu.
Now that you mention it, you gotta feel bad for the crew of the Enterprise D, especially the wesley crusher types who have to sit there and hit random buttons on flat surfaces all day. I guess the old-school Kirk era consoles don't seem so outdated when you think about it from this perspective.
The best quote I have ever heard about a game console is that "the PS2 looks like Darth Vader's toaster." I forget who said it but I agree. It's definitely very early 80's Star Wars/James Bondian.
The overall look is decent I guess but I have a feeling it would have looked much nicer if it wasn't for the little overhangy part on the right if you lay it down. I'd rather have a regular box than a funky one which tends to wiggle around on me because the base is smaller than the top.
I think overall I would rate the Gamecube #1, Xbox #2 (I still think it has a cool and powerful, no-nonsense consumer electronics feeling to it) and PS2 #3. It's just got this kind of "gimmicky" feeling to me, maybe because of all the extra jacks on the front and all the now-dirty and grimy vents. IMHO the Xbox and GC designs hold up better over time.
When I read this article i pictured an array of styrofoam cups. After all, they do make excellent calorimeters.

Don't worry, we in Mass are sure this situation will end up fine now that Theo Epstein is back.
Chuck Norris' tears cure cancer... too bad he never cries

I miss the 90's sooooo much.

Nobody wants to be a Jem'Hadar? They can turn invisible!
Maybe this is why Manny is such a bad fielder..

I would DEFINITELY not say the Dreamcast is quieter than the Xbox... do you even have an xbox?
It's really Scott Richter, but the idiot Slashdot guy who posted it initially had it say "Michael" Richter before quickly modifying the post..
(PS, I'm not related to either of those guys, nor the scientist guy, but share the last name)
There must be some misunderstanding...

This is about as "interesting" as watching laundry dry.
I like Mapquest because if you zoom in far enough, you can see the exit numbers on highways. Very useful here in exit-happy Massachussets.
