If you think that Eternal Darkness was completely devoid of gameplay, as you seem to insinuate about the work of Silicon Knights, than I would really really REALLY love to play a game that you thought had decent gameplay, because that game was fantastic as far as gameplay went (well, I'll admit the final battle was kind of weak, but that aside).

This doesn't necessarily mean that they won't make that game, though it seems less likely since exclusive developers probably get more perks like the chance to make that sort of game. Even in the write up it says that they will still be working together. Still, I have a feeling that game was just Dennis' pipe dream anyway, Nintendo seems to like to keep their first party games... well, first party. I'd love to see the game, but I wasn't holding my breath for it.

I know I read something about a MMO baseball game. You and a bunch of friends could make up a team, each playing individual positions against other players/teams. Sounded somewhat boring, so I didn't try out the trial period, but at least it's something.

I cannot believe that this piece of stereotypical BS was labelled as insightful. First of all, how about some facts to back up the sales market of the gamecube. I know that many of them are bought for younger children, but I highly doubt that many. The insinuation that most adults who own gamecubes have never gotten laid, blah blah blah. Honestly, I thought the slashdot system was designed to troll this kind of crap down immediately.

Sure, griefers are players with names like [jerk]IWILLDROP who go into random team games. As soon as a game starts they usually say something rude or racist or what not and then immediately drop from the game. I am sure Blizzard gets tons of reports about these jerks and is looking for a way for random team people to not get stuck with them. Thus, they are looking to ban accounts of people who routinely do this. I doubt this is a viable solution, since these people will just create new accounts, but at least Blizzard is trying.

Seems like a little too short of a time for this to really hit the market decently. I can't see a single minute of video clip being useful for things like karaoke and the others listed in the article. Unless there is a seemless way to merge several of them after downloading, maybe I missed that.

Speaking of missing things, I really don't understand the Eye Toy. Does anyone own one? If they've sold a million of them, there must be some decent use to them. When I first saw them I thought they looked like just a little gimmick add-on, sort of like the gameboy camera. Maybe I just haven't looked into it enough.

This seems to lead me to the question, is it right for Origin to be able to do this? I mean, granted it's not good for the game to have this sort of inflation. But, it's not necessarily true that the player did anything wrong. It's somewhat like someone playing the stock market really, really well in real life. Should the government be able to say, sorry, your system worked too well, we're taking the money back? Granted, this is a private company with holdings in a game... I guess I just think it's fun to think about.

While they may belong on the PC, many many people are still more likely to buy them on consoles, simply because they don't like the effort involved in putting a game on a computer. Driver updates, patches, most people don't ilke dealing with that. They just want to put a game in and play the game. That's why consoles are always going to be at the forefront of pop culture gaming. Us computer nerds are just a fairly large minority. Now, back to a little Day of Defeat (mods, the reason computer games really stay popular).

  24. As a fan... on Mario Kart Double Dash - GameCube Savior Or Rehash? · · Score: 5, Interesting
As someone who's played the past two Mario Karts excessively, I of course bought this game immediately. I think it's a bit of a mixed bag, but certainly a fun new challenge and doesn't really warrant the somewhat poor reviews that it has received.

First of all, the levels are a little repetitive of the 64 version yes, but that doesn't mean that they aren't fun. The Cruise Ship level is a blast, as is the DK race. Wario's track is amazing too, so much chaos all at once.

The single player mode still suffers a little bit from cheating AI. They'll really nail you when you get out in front, especially 150 cc. I still haven't gotten the gold in all of them yet, after several hours of play (read, stayed up all damn night). But who cares, it's all about the multiplayer anyway.

Multiplayer quite simply rocks. The challenge of the races with friends on your tail is an absolute blast. So are the baloon and bomb modes, though the Shine mode of play leaves something to be desired.

Coop mode on multiplayer is definitely revolutionary in the Mario Kart world. Having eight guys play on two cubes is a blast and a half. The cooperation with your partner keeps the game fun practically forever. I love the fact that you can play on 8 cubes with 8 people, though I have yet to experience it, I'm sure we will.

All in all, a great buy, well worth the money. As a college student, nothing better on the weekends than getting hammed and playing great party games like this one.

It does have some new behavior. Nothing's more fun than being the back player and being Bowser or DK and power sliding into other players on purpose, smacking them off the road. Plus having a person on the back makes those green turtle shells way more lethal. Just the cooperation and general yelling at each other when you get a bunch of people going in co-op mode makes it a ton of fun.
