Well, I'm in the UK and I think I have probably had one or two spams, ever, relating to UK products. All the rest of the 10-15 spams per day relate to US products.
That would answer which market drives these spammers, but as far as the law is concerned in stopping the spammers we still need to know where they operate from right? Of course the US government could surely do a lot more than they are doing in stopping them since the evil spam is basically nurtured by the US market, where everything is driven by profit or the lure of money, and morality is thrown out to the winds. The goeverment here will defend it, saying it creates jobs, wait for this issue to boil over.
"I don't believe it will affect ticket sales in any negative way," said Ron Sanders, Warner Home Video's domestic executive vp and general manager. "In fact, I believe that the home video release of 'Reloaded' will boost ticket sales of 'Revolutions.' "
Its nice to see few people move away from the hard and fast rules that the entertainment industry lives by.
But questions remain about the law's enforcement and reach -- spammers are evasive, to say the least, and most of Europe's junk e-mail comes from elsewhere.
Where, where, where does this elusive, slippery spam come from? Some mysterious nation with a communist government or an evil dictator? Bomb them. $100 reward to the first person to come up with the leading offender.
Think what it would mean to someone like ClearChannel if anyone with a few hundred dollars could legally set up a low power radio station?
Clear Channel would find it harder to drive them out of business.
Wonder if we can get some statistics on the number of stations which were forced to close down because of crushing competition from Clear Channel. We sure need better ideas to keep the smaller stations running.
Where the land shall belong to the farmer
Where the system software is transparent
Where the programmer can develop without fear (of the owner)
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake
If pirates had just bought the damn CDs instead of illegally downloading them, the record companies wouldn't have to do this. You caused this.
And if the record labels had kept the CD prices down, not as many people would have pirated the mp3s.
The corporations want more than the worth of the products they are selling and consumers will take what can get for free, but somewhere there is an amicable balance.
I guess with respect to the music industry this balance was disturbed by the exhorbitant prices of the CDs and we are currently oscillating around the balancing point.
Not exactly, if you read the article it says the genius in the person shines due to the high testosterone level.
Kanazawa suggests "a single psychological mechanism" is responsible for this: the competitive edge among young men to fight for glory and gain the attention of women. That craving drives the all-important male hormone, testosterone.
Marriage just kills competetive edge among men, cause you don't have to earn your sex anymore. (No relation to sexual orientation)
After a man settles down, the testosterone level falls, as does his creative output, Kanazawa theorises.
What do you get when a product is made to sell (marketing guys dream) and not designed to tackle the task in hand with a proper apporach, read the discussion on "Quick 'n Dirty" vs. "Correct and Proper"?.
Microsoft is just living on a legacy of bad code (read insecure), they have enough money to start a project to clean up their OSes, but is that their preference? I think not. As long they have the stranglehold on the market they decide if you want a secure operating system, which is a no.
I hope to live to see the day when operating systems market for the PCs is better balanced
What we need to do is draw a line as to how dirty it can get (analytical skills here).
Analyze where in the market you stand and ask some quick questions 1) How much time do you have 2) How much cash do you have
Is this product aimed for a quick money making scheme or a long lasting product?
and many more such questions to ponder about and you might just have your answer.
As a programmer the worst part about the quick scheme is to have to take blame for a buggy code which was a direct result of the demand on time by your manager, regardless of the warnings you gave. But then wehn you see it from the eyes of the marketing person its a different story.
"Looking even further ahead, Hypertag will use visual recognition, so phone users can point their phone at a magazine or newspaper article and be linked to a Web page, and even sound," said Morgan. "Using sound would allow TV viewers to access related Web pages by pointing and clicking their phone at the television.
So that we can read painfully from our cell phone screens instead of reading the printed material? Hmm.. Wonder how further they think they will go..
Interesting point, they probably use some speech recognition methods to catch certain phrases and words and follow them on suspicion.
And having to follow leads with singled out numbers could prove difficult with having to make real-time requests for decryption to the phone companies (read delay).
Are lifters - as debunkers claim - a mere physical hack, a trick of pushing air fast enough to float a toy? Or could this actually be evidence of Einstein's dream, the missing link between gravity and electricity?
The missing link between gravity and electricity, that sounds very interesting! Anyone having links to more information on that work please post it here.
Webcasters of all sizes have wrangled with the recording industry since 1998, when Congress passed a law requiring Internet radio stations to pay royalties to artists and record labels.
The RIAA by far looks to be the greediest of all in corporate america. There sure should be more musicians like Tom Petty out there who need a little support in tuning down the greed. As long as the small stations can survive we will have music
The adoption of the Linux open-source operating system, which can be obtained for free and copied or modified, would be a blow to Microsoft Corp, which wanted the government to use its Windows system for the backbone computer.
Has Bill Gates made a visit to Japan yet? I am sure he'll be there soon with sops for the government and money to goodwill. Of course he will not give unless there is some surety of getting back
Microsoft, for its part, announced a trio of European government contract wins last week.
That would answer which market drives these spammers, but as far as the law is concerned in stopping the spammers we still need to know where they operate from right?

Filesharing is here to stay and like the government refuses to legalize prostitution and make some money on taxes, RIAA is fighting the wrong battle.
We need some article insights into how this organization is run.

A: Excellent question! Please see the introductory sections of our academic papers, and Darse's M.Sc. research essay for a detailed explanation.
Excellent indeed! But how about a brief explanation for the impatient?

How effective would this in a world striving to move to wireless protocols?!
It wouldn't get the chance to make a scratch let alone a mark.

Truly the UNIX on steroids, has had a pioneering role in the evolution of the *nix operating systems.
Sad indeed that such a good system is dying.
