The pictures are all related to the upcoming apple expo in Paris. The first picture is of the conference center where the keynote is going to be held, the second is of the exposition hall where the expo itself will take place, and the third is of an advertisement, announcing the expo. Not all that interesting for most people, but understandable for a mac fan site. A bit more interesting is the circa 1984 picture of the silver apple jacket with built in speakers, further down...

I concur... I travel regularily to Spain (4-5 times a year for the last 3 years) and I have never had anything other than the standard metal detector and x-ray. The only incident I've ever had with security in spain was when they called me into the baggage area to open my suitcase, because they saw something on the xray and wanted me to open it myself, and they were extremely polite the whole time. I've travelled to many other european countries and have never had any sort of rude treatement anywhere. Incidently, the last time I was in Spain and in France, they didn't even ask me for my passport as I boarded the plane.

But for me (I'm Canadian) the worst part about going to the states, and the reason I avoid it if at all possible, is going through customs. I've always found it an unpleasant experience despite never having had any actual problems, even when I'm just connecting in the US; compare this to going to most of europe, where they don't even HAVE customs when you're flying within the EU...

Now, I don't have the statistics to verify this, but as far as I know, despite the ease of travel in Europe vs. the US, it's not any more dangerous, so what's the benefit of all this paranoia? In my opinion, it does a lot more harm than good.

Actually, many (if not most) games feature this type of dynamic soundtrack these days; usually it seems to be two variations, one that's played during combat and one in between the fighting. And speaking of X-Wing, one of the best soundtracks I've heard in recent times is for the game Freelancer; it's one of the only games I've ever played where the soundtrack actually stood out as being well done. I believe all the sounds were in a easily readable format (probably .WAV) so you could browse through them and see how the dynamics soundtracks were put together.

The story here, then, is not that a bad password was chosen, but that somebody decided to disobey orders by disabling the password, and that the higherups were completely in the dark about it.

When a reality TV dating show comes to campus, Larry decides he's going to revitalize his life by winning the contest and proving once and for all that he can live up to the shining example set by his Old Uncle Larry.
Considering how old the orginal Larry would be in the minds of people who played the first games, I suppose this makes sense.

I can't say anything about frontpage, but the latest version of dreamweaver mx (7.0.1) has very good CSS support, and comes with several CSS based page designs. The only glaring issue is the way Dreamweaver's internal HTML renderer handles absolutely positioned content within other content, it seems to treat it all as being relative to the page itself.

Well, the designs do work and most browsers, but many of them rely on various hacks and workarounds to display correctly on all browsers, and even the most standards compliant browsers on the market have bugs. This means that developing cross-platform CSS is a lot more work than it should be.

Apple has a relatively constant rate of product updates, with the average for powerbooks being 171 days. This would mean that, chances are in 6 months there will be a new model, which should be G5 based barring any significant hurdles. However, it's generally safer to avoid first generation products, as they typically have bugs that get worked out in the first revision.

All of this to say that, now is really the best time to buy a powerbook, as chances are it will be at least a year before we get bugfree G5 powerbooks... but if you absolutely must wait 6 months, there should be something new by that time.

And we won't be getting an update until longhorn, which means that we're going to be suffering from it's lack of standards compliance for a quite a while longer. This may not seem like such a big issue on the surface, but it's actually a huge problem for web developers, who have to rely on all kinds of kludges and hacks to make things work properly on all the platforms.
