I keep coming back here because I keep my comment threshhold at +5, +10 at reddit(and would be higher if they let me), and almost never read the comment threads at Fark unless I want to pgdn through it quickly to find pictures of hot russian spies or whatever without clicking through links.
Basically I try to keep my entertainment and laziness quotients as high as possible.
uhm.. yes. I don't have the time to look up numbers but I'm almost postive namco cares much more about console sales than arcade units. But regardless the fact remains that the "jump" in terms of graphics in T5 is no where near any other versions. In fact other than walls and some "pretty" things like the ground breaking, T5 looks almost identical to TTT and no where near as good/realistic looking as T4. The only conclusion is their budget was much smaller than other games.
Namco clearly took the "easy" way out on their other release this year - Tekken 5. While its still a good title its very obviously to an experienced observer that it has a fraction of the budget of previous games and was definitly their first "console" fighting game ala DoA. They took the money and ran in other words.
um online gambling goes on all the time by US citizens and nothing happens to them. Currently the primary money transfer system is through www.neteller.com which is basically an off shore paypal - players set up a free account, make a free EFT from their bank to their neteller account, make a fee-less buy in to their casino or poker room of choice and the reverse to get money out. Online gambling may be illegal in a couple states but is basically not proscuted. Oh, unless you don't pay taxes of course. I have 5 figures in various online places and feel 100% secure.
I have played many bnet games and am now in the WOW beta. All I can say is if Blizzard has the kind of CS policies that have plagued their other games WOW will be an unmitigated disaster. Of course the standard arguement is since players will be paying a monthly fee for WOW, you won't see the utter lack of interest and bug fixing/patching that Blizzard has shown on their free bnet titles like Diablo 2 - but all we can go on is their past performance. Right now I'm not holding my breath. They need to a) ban ebay sales immediately and threaten account removal for them, and b) make and enforce area-specific servers. No asians on NA servers, and vice versa. I really hope this all works out as the game itself is terrific.
Making a DVR that a) includes a DVD burner or b) allows a user to easily play video files from a PC on their TV would be disasterous for everyone in my opinion. Maybe it should come with a bit torrent client and firefox and start up at suprnova too?
Not really the same thing, but I am a pro poker player (cash games mostly) and my biggest advantage over the average amateur players is that I'm not a total fucking retard. YMMV.
This is my favorite (only) square related story and no one ever believes me but..
Back in 2000, I was getting out of EQ after having played it since release. I was on the most JPN-heavy server and in the main (NA) uberguild. Anyways I was in the process of selling my account piece by piece on ebay and the winning bid for one of my better items had an interesting @square.com email. After a small amount of checking I discovered it was the head guy himself. I received payment from his assistant and transferred the item to him in game. There was a couple interesting things about him. One was that he was decked in armor he could not possibly have obtained (lustrous russet). The that he was a female woodelf bard. *sigh*
Just as an aside I picked up a geforce 6800 non-ultra last month and could not be more pleased with its performance - and it requires only one slot and a "standard" 300W power supply.
I agree. I thought 5 years ago we would have "discovered" that you can't have something (content) for nothing on the internet and expect it to last. I would assume that in particular that "half life 3" or whatever will not be playable multiplayer without some sort of fee.

Not having Dune 2 is a mindbogglingly massive omission, but not having Super Mario Bros at #1 is even more ridiculous.
how do you make those letters that look 'bigger' and more 'formal', like the ones that you use to start sentences after periods/
Well my cat spends about 12 hours a day on top of my 21" CRT, if he explodes, catches on fire or mutates I'll let you know.

I think everyone who uses the term "sheeple" should be stabbed in the face over the internet.

Probably. A friend has a much worse set up and he can run it adequetly.
If you're wondering: paying $16 to fileplanet to play a beta a week before everyone else and 2 weeks before release.

This sounds extremely implausible.

Peter: Ooooh, tape this for me
Brian: Oooooooooh sorry, the VCR hasn't worked since you tried to tape Monday Night Football
(flashback, Peter puts tape in VCR and presses record, then security guards bust in)
Security Guard: Do you have the expressed written cocent of ABC and the National Football League?
Peter: (holding up contract) Just ABC
(Peter jumps out of the way just as they begin shooting at the VCR)
In fact, we're at a loss to remember any of this game's specifics.
But yet, its apparently one of the boringest games of all times. Now that's journalism.
I also like when people manually type in "sigs" because its very important that we readers with then disabled see this particular sig.

Why is this interesting to see how this plays out?
Out of curiousity, at your next job interview what did you say about why you're looking for work?
