Things like announcing a new race make me question my decision that it's too late to join WoW, as a brand new player. I'm not totally convinced that I'd not hate it, though. Everyone else is all uber, and I'd just be starting out. Maybe with a new race, people would be starting over with different characters and stuff.
I recently kicked a FFXI habit, so I should probably just just steer clear of this. I get more done around the house this way.
Maybe the strays are people who surf the web at work, and thus consider themselves 'online', but don't have their own email account seperate from their spouse? I can't imagine it would be more than 1 or 2 percent, but that's just my guess as to the discrepancy.
As an immigrant who had to learn English from the scratch, that statement is almost offensive.
Submitter here. I just wanted to say that I in no way intended to offend anybody with that sentence. I guess I'm so oblique that I don't even fully understand how I offended you. But I sincerely apologize for doing so.
What's holding them back?
Perhaps they realized how difficult browser security is...
I LOL'D
The difference between 1 million compromised 360 and 1 million compromised winbox is that the latter is known to be a problem, while the consumers generally don't expect their tv to suddenly start popping up porn pictures. Expect tons of lawsuits if this happens.
Here's what I'd expect: A couple of token lawsuits, that would get nowhere. Like the people who lawyer up and try to sue M$ when their kid "mistakenly" downloads pr0n onto the family PC.
Then again, there was that whole deal with the PSP, and the wipe exploit... But that was from people intentionally running homebrew code on them. I'm talking about someone having their 360 infected from viewing a webpage via the internal browser? I just don't see it happening.
The problem is how to keep it safe and up-to-date with the ever-evolving web exploits.
How hard would that be? They have an automatic updater in WindowsXP, couldn't they do the same for 360? And how would someone even introduce their own online virus code via the Xbox Live network?
Not saying it couldn't happen, because I know better than that. But what's the difference in potentially exploitable Windows PCs, and potentially exploitable 360s? The potential for exploit never stopped M$ from bundling IE in Windows. "Why should it hold them back on the 360?", was basically my question.
I don't see why they couldn't include this, either. I remember being upset that Sony didn't include one with the PS2 network adapter. 360, being a Microsoft product, should surely have shipped with a bundled IE of some form or fashion.
Even though I prefer Firefox, MS really dropped the ball without including a simple browser.

Yeah, Haha! I just saw the link in another comment, of some classics.
Now I 'get it'. Good stuff.

Not that I'm complaining. I like blog articles. And who can argue with Mario content? But is this a news item, or just a blog article on some strange mutation of flash mobbing? And I just now noticed this was basically a blog story referencing a story on YET ANOTHER blog.
There is only a shortage if the price is too low. At the moment, Microsoft is easily selling out the half-million or so Xbox 360 units (there's no official number) for prices starting at $300 for the basic package. Why doesn't Microsoft price them at $700 instead?"
I fail to understand why there's a shortage in the first place. If they're selling that many at the $300 price, why not just make more Xbox units? If people are this upset and not being able to score one, wouldn't Microsoft be doing themselves a service by getting this many consoles in the market, for future game sales for these units?
I have a rule on evaluating websites. Any professional site, regardless of content, should be more interesting to read, as well as generally look better than my own crappy blog.
This 'Game Rag' barely manages the former, and is borderline on the latter. It looks like they stole the "orange and black" look from GameSpot, and threw a basic Blogger template at it, and sent an email to Slashdot saying "we're ready for prime time, baby!"
I actually beat the boss from the "inside the Temple" portion of the demo (can't remember which mode it was), without doing anything. My wife called me away from the controller. Since I had been playing DQ8 before that, I forgot it wasn't turn-based. The AI members managed to defeat the boss from 1/2 dead, with no help from me at all.
Fortunately Dragon Quest VIII came with a FFXII demo, so I now KNOW I can safely ignore all things Final Fantasy from Squeenix now. Squaresoft is dead, and Final Fantasy along with them.
I play DQ8. I also played the FFXII demo. I have to say I liked it, even if I can't figure out the difference between the "Active" and "Wait" modes. Neither seems to give me the sense I'm playing the game, any more than a 5 year old "plays" the games he's staring at in an arcade, slapping the controls around, all the while with no money in the machine. FFXII just seems to "do things", and I can kinda move a character around, somewhat.
I don't claim to know anything about AIT. But the link you posted has a link to the BBB report on AIT ("read the full BBB report"), which says they have a "satisfactory record". Which seemed odd to me, for a site that claims they suck.
They sound like they DO suck. But that BBB link is maybe wrong?
Sounds like you haven't been married in awhile. This was all HER idea, you know. And we're prolly not as old as you'd think. Sure, we both graduated HS when Guns 'N Roses was still making music, but still.;)
I'd much rather play some backgammon, or use one of the 2 chess sets we own, but whatever. We have Scrabble, and Yahtzee. Yahtzee is fun, maybe we'll break that out. But I like the site you mentioned. I'm considering a few now. As a matter of fact, 'Get Out' looks like it might be cool. And 'Mana Burn' maybe.
1. People who like multiplayer games play for social interaction.
2. People who like single player games play for escape.
It's not much more complicated than that, is it?
Was 'Hulk Smash' meant as a joke? Because I don't see anything called that, in TFA. And I didn't know the game based on the movie was all that bad.

2. League play from top game leagues. The ESPN of gaming.
Um...am I the only one who thinks that is an awesome idea?
Why do people who get PAID to program Network TV never think of these things?

My wife would kill me, if I tried to set up the PC in the living room.
That's probably why most (married) people don't opt for it.

That's gotta be some kind of record, doesn't it?
Yes, but the real question is: Does Avant use the Mozilla feed icon? As popular as Avant is, I'm sure Microsoft collaborated with them, too.
Here's some info on the Patriot Act, in case someone wants to actually read it (or at least the general gist of it) before they offer opinions.

Exactly.

It's a demo, true. But come on, now.

Hmm... Maybe I didn't like FFXII after all, huh?
Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know their membership and satisfaction rating was related. Very interesting, indeed.
I'd rate up, if I could.
They sound like they DO suck. But that BBB link is maybe wrong?
True, true.
Actually, being perceptably NON-perky is the main contributing factor in surviving a winter season, where I work.
Winter makes people conform. We're all in the same boat, as it were.
...that the devs get the 'Raping and Pillaging' content finished in time for the final release?
ARRR!!!
Will the Japanese have the same problems with bundling, like those that purchased their 360s at Best Buy, in the USA?
Do retail outlets even DO bundling over there? I don't know.
