    Word processing really sucked back then.

    Hackers is a book about the original hackers of each of the computer periods. Woz, RMS, and many more have their stories told.
    Full of the passion and power these people felt when first confronted with interactive technology
    it struck a real chord with my own experiences, and may well do so for anyone else with a strong technical bent.

    I had problems a few years ago with these types of symptoms, and after seeing a physiotherapist (and performing these types of exercise) for a while they went away.
    Unfortunately, if you are experiencing numbness you may have damaged some of your nerves. I would recommend seeing a doctor/physiotherapist very soon or you could completely lose use of your hands.

    Personally, 2k runs pretty well for me on a 450 but I pay good attention to what services are running. Any speed loss I have is easily outweighed by the increase in system stability IMHO.
    To keep this from being totally offtopic, here's my list in no particular order:
    Java, dMSN, Eclipse, Gnu Octave, OpenOffice, Blender, Winamp, Modplug Tracker, Audacity, Mozilla Firebird, AVG, ZoneAlarm, Gimp and AdAware

    I think I have to agree.
    XML and XSL are so easy to use at this point that creating an adhoc markup language would be reasonably easy.
    On a tangent, does anyone know if thoughts have been made about moving TeX to XML?

    a) install some custom software that will intermittently close random programs
    b) reset the web-browser home page to goatse (or some distasteful alternative)
    and
    c) install windows XP

    (j/k... installing XP would be mean)

    I tend to agree with you unfortunately, subtlety has never been a strong suit for them.

    I was wondering when someone would speak out about this cult of so called "Life-guards", that encourage our childrens' immersion in DHM in exchange for colored bits of fabric they call "badges".
    Earning enough "badges" would even allow a child to one day become a "Life-guard", although I shudder to think of what sort of initiation these sick and twisted individuals would perform.
    Probably ingestion of some mixture of ethanol, dihydrogen monoxide and ascorbic acid.
    Sick freaks.

    Personally, I have found the Ginkgo Biloba helps in clarity and recall.
    Generally I have found that the required dose is higher than recommended on the packaging, and the effectiveness only starts to take place after a couple of weeks.
