The tactile experience of picking out a movie.
Tilting your head to look at the shelf selection....
Pondering.. what do I wanna watch...
You know, how something catches your eye and makes you wanna watch it.. not just some title in text on a screen.
And unless you plan on leaving the area, or living in a cardboard box.. you still haven't made a cent.. because you have to buy ANOTHER home.. which has probably inflated by the same amount. Zero Sum Game.. You made money on paper, but nothing has changed.
Bingo!!
I agree 100%...
Yes DVD killed VHS.... because it offered more then just the same in a pretty picture.
One of the biggest additions is the "extras" that are jam packed on DVD's now.. behind the scenes, trailers etc.
Go grab a DVD of an older movie, one that would have come out on VHS originally, say (one of my favs) Tank Girl.... and there's nothing for extras... you really miss them.
Now of enough earlier adopters get on board.. I'm sure we'll see neato things... maybe.. but it won't be mainstream until there is.
Format is nice.. but CONTENT IS KING
(For you non-CFL fan moderators, "our balls are bigger" is an actual slogan, of the CFL, since a Canadian Football is physically larger then an NFL ball)
Hmm.. doesn't this article specifically talk about average wages?
Where do you think HR et al get the guidelines for how much particular jobs and experience should be paid?
So basically, you want your pay to be based on other's work without the ability to affect the overall picture.
Now there's a difference between stating there's a problem and publishing an exploit that uses the problem.
To use your analogy:
You've found the problem, you've informed the car maker, now after 4 years, they haven't fixed it, so you go and start rear-ending cars to make them explode.
Is this potentially a dangerous precedent?
That is really all that is done is port-blocking.. are we saying that now you can be fined for closing a port on your own equipement?
What happens we find out the latest virus want to attack on that port? Can we still be fined?
And really.. all VoIP is gonna do is kill "unlimited" bandwidth connections... don't think for a second that a TelCo won't jump after revenue.

Who doesn't have a CAT 5 cable tucked into their laptop bag anyway? There's an awful lot of places that don't have wireless yet.

Woohoo .. 10 years of ripping of Photoshop ... err.. Innovation.
Sorry... open source innovates, Microsoft rips off .... my bad.
We have enough youth, how about a fountain of smart?
And our balls are bigger.

Right, I forgot, this is Slashdot .... where concepts can't be grasped .. only literal interpretations.
Fine, replace "average" with "salary bracket".
And, no, I'm not saying unions are good, but trying to show that it's not a black/white issue.

Dang, you think they'ld get a spell checker at the government. First they screw up the whole Iran and Iraq threat. Now it's terrorists and tourists.
1986 called, they want their joke back.
Well .. I guess we can count on "My Sharonna", by the Knack, not being the big song for the release.
The Red Steckled Elbermung
it should be migrating to .NET DEX
That's why I use FedEx.

So, is this kinda thing gonna shoot us in the foot, and make Linux mean cheap in the public eye? And I mean cheap, NOT inexpensive.
So, you listen to a CD once and then throw it out? Man, I gotta dumpster dive at your house.
