Actually, it's more of the fact that being stupid is associated with being easy. chicks wanna get attention, then they are gonna act dumb. It's a sure shot way to get the average males' attention who thinks he is gonna get laid cuz the girl is "stupid." Troll me all you want, it's the sad truth.
It's a shame that this company who is supposed to be bringing the spotlight to desktop linux, is bringing it in such a way. First, we had the Microsoft mockeries on the website, and now blatant stealing of someone else's work. The sad thing, is that there are those out there who will start to think that open source software is about stealing other's source, and that that would be the only reason to keep it open. Sad, but probably true. It's companys like these that we don't need bringing a bad name to linux. I think it is time for the Lindash/Lindows/Linspire, whatever people to mature up a little bit.
Or, with the way things are now, bomb a building. I don't think you can ever keep the hazards away from voting. No matter what, there is going to be some outside force that could possibly have some adverse effect on the system. We just need to weigh out the pros and cons of every possible setup, and go for that one. I totally agree that the online banking model is an excellent idea.
Just before I was finishing up High School a couple of years ago, this guy that came into my past job worked for Diebold and some how or another we ended up talking about computers. It later on worked out to where he was going to try to get me an interview when I was almost ready to graduate. By the time that hit they ended up laying off a bunch of people at Diebold in his department. (ATM/Surveilance systems) After a few months of phone tag and other run-around I finally gave up and looked for another job. That was before all of this pain with the voting machines. All I have to say, is thank god I didn't get that job. It would have been doing surveilance system work, so I wouldn't feel any pressure from this issue directly, but I wouldn't want the reputation of having worked for a company that fails like this. It's interesting how the bad things in life, can be blessings in disguise sometimes.
Also, you have to remember that it isn't just about what will work now, but thinking about the future. Future software will be more resource intensive, so what is hardware overkill now, will become the least common demoninator in several years, instead of next season. This eleviates the need for upgrades every X ammount of years.
While this is interesting and innovative technology, when is it too much? How much further will this go? Not to sound like a tinfoil fashion junkie, but what if this kind of stuff gets put into the wrong hands? Honestly. With companies like Cisco, APC, and others putting hardcoded backdoors into their products, what if someone decided the same was neccessary on a wireless version of this device? Don't get me wrong, new technology is amazing. But IMHO it is something to be feared and respected. Maybe somethings are best never invented. Pacemakers are awesome, but a chip to control muscle functions in the brains of paralysis patients seems a bit frightening. Especially if a wireless version is to emerge. No, it wouldn't be un-wep'ed 802.11b, but nonetheless this, to me is an alert. I don't know anyone personally who is paralyzed, so maybe I don't take this as seriously as others, but I can't see myself having a foreign object implanted into my brain any time soon. Of course extensive testing will be done to ensure that the product is usable for deployed to patients but can you imagine a failure of this? What if it (the chip) becomes uncontrollable for any number of reasons?
Q: Why not use the google bar that comes with Mozilla/Firefox ? A: Because it doesn't support the page ranking feature.
Insightful? Jesus christ, get a clue!

It's times like these that I wish I had modpoints. It's a shame that your post will be stuck at Troll. Oh well, it's only karma I guess.

of 30 years of dateless, virgin nerds who still live at home!
Can somebody say Bat-signal?
"Unfortunately for us, if satellites can more precisely measure this rise of the Earth's temperature, they cannot cure this fever."
...although satellites can more precisely measure this rise...?
"We ran a story on a this a few days ago." What's a "this" ?
I for one, welcome our new alien overlords.

"Mom, we found a starvin' Ethernopian. Can we keep him?"
I was thinking this was some kind of new dating service technique!
If this thing covers only ethernet networks, I'm rolling back to coax!
Perfect sig for the date-less slashdot community! I wonder what grandma thinks of it though.
