  1. heat on Wooden Computer Accessories · · Score: 1

The problem with wood case mods and I'm sure monitors is proper heat dissapation. The wood must be thicker than plastics and certainly metal and would hold a lot more heat compared to these other materials. This constant heat expansion and contraction would probably lead to cracking over the years, as regular furniture.

But I know the response, at least you guys would have the source to Popcon and know what it transmits, but how many people are going to go sifting through that? I don't think you need access to everything to simply change the language around. They're not going to open it up and that's their choice. They spend the money to develop it and it's their right to keep it closed. If you don't like it, then don't buy it.

It depends on the signal. Analog cable looks great when the signal is perfect and you're located next door to the cable company. However, a few miles out and a decade of degradation to the actual cable will worsen the signal substantially. However with digital, as long as there is a signal, the picture is always the same. I have comcast which has some analog and some digital. I'd say the digital is pretty good, usually better than the analog channels. I guess it's easier for them to send digital down the lines instead of analog because the signal doesn't always have to be perfect.

I'm so sick of people chanting that linux is the greatest and easiest thing to use. If it were, then lots of OEMs would be putting it on their high end machines and not their lowest price pc's to save $40.

I've tried a bunch of distros on a bunch of computers and every time into it after a couple weeks I get sick and tired of it and I go back to windows cause it works a lot better and it's a lot easier. I'm seeing this more and more around here on /. of people responding back to these zealots and telling them to shut up because linux is a pain in the ass. And the command line always comes up in some way or another on linux installs, I don't care what you say. The reason congress is stepping in is because no one is going to put their 2004 Explorer on kazaa and share it. They're not talking about opening up all the software.
