Now, the only connection North Korea seems to have, at least for tourists and diplomats/business men is an expensive satellite connection, and it's in the diplomatic quarter of Pyongyang. (source: Lonely Planet) If there isn't a single cable out from the place, they would have to do their business from outside the NK border. Also note that it is illegal to bring in modems to the country, and that the phone system (whatever is left of it) is disconnected from international phone lines. So if NK wants to do funny business on the net, that will put China under pressure (or S.Korea, if they can sneak in there). South Korea certainly doesn't want any N.Koreans there, and China routinely sends back N.Koreans that police finds. The hackers would not only have to be hackers, but also sneaky spies, tiptoeing through enemy territory just to winnuke some machine in the US. I wouldn't be too worried about this particular threat.
Note that this doesn't mean the rest of the world shouldn't be worried about NK, just that their hackers might not be the ones to pose a threat.
As far as I know, they don't. The only thing that has been measured is a slight temperature increase in brain surface tissue. If that's what you're afraid of, then don't go out in the sun either.
Just to correct the information, according to Lonely Planet the minimum service time for men is 6 years, but obviously it can be longer (and probably is in many cases). Also, according to stories from refugees, women serve too, I think some similar period of time.
But apart from the nitpicking, it's certainly as you imply. North Korea is not a country that can be included in any comparison. It's off the scale in fscked-up-ness.
This sentence resignates strongly with me.. I recently looked into one of my two computers, and found a motherboard that wasn't mine, or at least I didn't recognize it. After a week of thinking I vaguely remembered something, but I still don't know where exactly I got it from, or when I put it in. I have been away for a year, though, so it's probably just my memory. I hope.
I don't want to think of the consequences if my computer has been fooling around behind my back...
Well you shouldn't! But what can be worth considering is, if everybody else thinks that one candidate is a better choice, then there's got to be something about it, some kind of reason.
Now, Europe is definitely not everybody, but, as an example, Finnish attitudes are sometimes profoundly different than French. So if both Finns and Frenchies (and others!) think the same about some issue it just can't be a random coincidence.
Which leads to the original point: Why? There must be a reason. Perhaps it is good.
Actually I don't think it matters that much, but if Kerry gets voted, there's at least a possibility for change towards sensible (or at least non-inflammatory) foreign politics coming out of the US. I've kind of lost all hopes for Bush, call it effects of propaganda and Bush-bashing if you will.
Ah, but that's a different case. If you already have the equipment there's no reason to make a costly switch. The point was, you said that since SD cards have this wearout problem, it's exactly the reason why you use CF cards, and didn't consider SD. No? Anyway, the original point was that CF cards have wearout problems too, don't they?
That's a particularly stupid way of selecting a camera, but luckily the powershots aren't bad. Anyhow, SD and XD cards seem to get more common than CF these days, so you better think again next time. For reference, my Panasonic FZ-10 takes SD cards, even though it's quite a big camera. The Really Huge cameras that I've taken a look at use both CF and SD.
That's an interesting site (Clicky: http://www.simonbone.com/myohyang.html)

Not only the english use period, actually..
I would guess: "Lee O nrr doh", "Doughnut L O" and "Michael angel O". Basically lots of o's.
Here's a catchier one:
Some come here to sit and think
and to write down on these walls.
I come here to shit and stink
and to scratch my hairy balls.

so I'm not quite sure what it is now...

If you don't care, then the administration doesn't have to care about others' opinions either, since the administration represents you, right?
how come we never see global preferences for Britian, China, Japan or other countries' leader selection.
Apparently, US media doesn't cover that, then. Complain to them, not to the rest of the world.
I suppose the grandparent was referring to sonar imaging with a highly directional microphone.
Or it's about hearing paintings.
What? You have my homework solutions?

"When the Phantom moves, lightning stands still."
-Old jungle saying-
So all that is needed is:
1. Hire Phantom
2. Wait for lightning to strike charging equipment
3. Make Phantom move indefinitely
4. ???
5. Profit!
Well, I have to go check what NECs LaViE S laptop smells like. It's the first laptop produced using safe flameretardants.
Here's the original japanese pressrelease, and a excite.co.jp translated version.

May I ask you to avoid words like the censored ones above in the future? My eyes are bleeding.

but it translates your post from bablefish and japenese and is high.

Considering the translation abilities of Babelfish regarding Japanese, I would expect no less. You know, like

Have I been misinformed by the pr0n industry?
"I know this is going to start a huge discussion of religion in general"
Well, not that huge, actually.

The one who registered for NYT, you mean?
"...Bill Gates' programmers will include Bash..."
The only bash related to Microsoft you can get is what you find in Slashdot comments.
I just realised, a much nicer amendment would be the right to bear hugs.
... am I the only one who first misread:
"...the International Federation of the Pornographic Industry - IFPI - has sued 247 accused file-sharers in Germany..."
Cutting down a tree doesn't mean you don't like trees. Rather, that you like trees so much that you willingly grow them, and make things out of them.
:)
... And don't start something about the trees' feelings and whatnot..
Oh, about christians cutting down christmas trees.. what has christianity and eternal life got to do with this very old tradition?
