I wasn't thinking of black as being a color, but you are correct that most printers now include a separate black toner/ink cartridge.
As for why Black is referred to as 'K', I'll quote Wikipedia: "Black is referred to using the letter K (rather than the expected B) for key - a shorthand for the printing term key plate. This plate impressed the artistic detail of an image, usually in black ink. This use of the letter K also helped avoid confusion with the letter B as used in the acronym RGB."
I'd like to sue the manufacturer of my retinas and/or brain, because my retinas are only capable of Trichromatic vision, but my brain keeps tricking me into thinking I'm seeing millions of variations.
And don't get me started on those so-called "color printer" things. I only see 3 colors of ink/toner going into those.
It isn't so much the size that makes SUVs less safe, but their high center of gravity, which makes them more prone to rollovers. In the winter, we see SUVs flipped over in the ditch all the time. They'll hit a slippery patch, their tires will catch on a ridge on the side of the road, and away they go.
I think they should create a NASCAR-like race using SUVs. Then people would really see the difference in handling between them and a low-slung car.
I was thinking the same thing, but then noticed that there is no such response window for the 2nd or 3rd DMCA notice. So not only does the fine increase substantially, guilt is assumed, and the network connection is cut immediately.
If I accuse someone of the same crime a second time (even if they were found innocent the first time around), does that make them more guilty?
Perfect, now audiophiles can look cool with their 'retro' collections of vinyl (even if they never listen to them), and still get easy access to the far-more-functional digital copy.
You don't need to reboot the whole machine, just restart the x server.
I've had quite a bit of difficulty getting my s-video output to work under Ubuntu, as well. I'd be more frustrated if it wasn't for the fact that it isn't exactly a piece of cake under Windows, either.:-)
But don't forget that Windows 2000 was not (officially) sold as a consumer OS. It did have some compatibility issues with older games & other purely-consumer software.
I go over the speed limit quite often when driving, and generally trust my own judgement. Does that mean I'll condone the same behavior when my son learns to drive? Hell, no.
A little practice with fish tape doesn't hurt, either.
Wiring my 108-year-old house with Cat5 was pretty simple, BUT: 1. Forget about pulling anything up through exterior walls, thanks to the insulation. My house also has an extra-thick foundation that gets in the way, but I doubt that's a common problem.
2. I know plenty of people with new homes where adding wiring is a PITA simply because their basements are finished off. Bye-bye easy access to the joists and wall cavities on the upper floor.
The whole "printed ads on the backside" reminded me of a wish I've had for a while: Does anyone know of any (online) photo printing services that will print text on the back side of the photo? Either a caption that is manually typed in when you upload the photo, or the file name, or something to that effect?
Vacuums with filters *do* clog up after a while. That's why I recently spent $15 on a new filter for my $100 vacuum cleaner (which we purchased 6 years ago), and it's good as new. We could replace the filter every year, and it would take 20 years to cost as much as a $400 machine.
We've cynically joked about how large organizations praise Linux as a bargaining tool to extract lower costs from Microsoft. Now they're using it to get better deals on new hardware, too!
Very admirable, but kind of ironic that even you don't know his/her name, or anything about his/her policies. How will you vote for this person?

Exactly. And the danger in that is that once OLPC is forced out, then Intel will also discontinue their efforts.

I'm currently reading a fantastic biography of Lincoln & several members of his cabinet, called Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln
I've never found politics particularly interesting, but Doris Kearns Goodwin really brings it to life.
So, why not sign it, and also write "Check ID"? My wife's signature is the only one I've ever seen that actually takes up most of the signature panel.
In Korea, only old people transform.

My favorite method? Walk up to vending machine, insert dollar. Hit 'D'. Retrieve bottle of Diet Dew.

I just hope I never have to debug their code!
Before you nuke Redmond, perhaps you should read a bit about WHY Gates is sending funds to the Discovery Institute. (hint: it's not to promote ID)

I suggest we call one of those platforms "Ubuntu". Another one might be called "Fedora", and yet another would be "SUSE".
Goofy names, I suppose, but I don't have the expertise (or patience!) to create my own platform, so I'll settle for using one of those.

The problem would actually be if it *wasn't* easy for China to find other buyers for the debt.
It isn't just being in range of several towers at once, it's the rapid switching from tower to tower as the airplane cruises at 500+ mph.

I say we go all the way and standardize on Stardates.
