He could have been taken when the CIA met with Bin Landin at the American Hospital two months before 9/11 or when the FBI met with Bin Landin in California in 1986.
Won't the drug companies just buy samples directly from the infected people? Surely a sick Indonesian kid has a lower price point than the government of Indonesia. This won't last long.
we now have extremely large, extremely rich companies doing what our governments should be doing.
I must have missed the clauses in the constitution that direct the federal government to do such things as eliminate disease in foreign countries or to research and develop automobiles. These are precisely the kinds of things that private organizations are better at than the federal government.
It does seem to be a bit outside the realm of Google's circle of competence, though. I wonder if it comes as a surprise to many shareholders who have invested in Google.
What if we disagree with it?
Quit investing in the company and quit using their services. You don't even need to renounce your citizenship or leave your country to do that!
I'd like to implement something like this for myself, but with conversational noise instead of TV. I sometimes use my laptop as a visual aid during conversations in my living room. If we're talking about a particular topic, I may pull up a relevant wikipedia article, or something like that. I wouldn't mind if this were more automated.
I can envision running a speech-to-text translator on my laptop mic and then piping that text into my beagle desktop searcher, or maybe even one of those google desktop search tools on windows. I'd rather not send this data to google, for privacy reasons, though.
I could see this being useful at work, or in a conference or class, too. I could stand to have relevant pieces of notes that I took from previous classes pulled up with my professor mentions a particular topic.
How long will it be before one of us stumbles across a porn site that says something along the lines of: "Free, young, teen, lesbian, fetish sex pictures inside. Just respond to this question with a couple of sentences of correct English..."?
Everyone knows what a success MAE-East, MAE-West and the rest of the public peering points have been. Let's build a few more of them! Or, even better, encourage the federal government to get involved. Perhaps spending some of the federal budget on this problem would be a good idea. I think I recall a peering point clause in the constitution somewhere.
In all seriousness, these private companies will work it out when they realize that their paying customers are pissed and leaving because they're no longer selling very complete connectivity. Just like in the past, it won't take long. If TV has taught me anything, these problems are usually wrapped up pretty nicely in about 28 minutes.
...Larry Mumper's close relative just opened a new "approved auction school" which is the only place in Ohio for you to receive your required eBay! license.
Aside from the fact that you're implying that there is never a legitimate reason to shoot something or someone (I know people with rattlesnakes in their backyard who would disagree with your calling hunting with a handgun "bullshit"...), a gun isn't just for shooting people with. There's a lot to be said for intimidation. You should know this since you're obviously scared of people having guns.
Don't let them make you back down. The possibility of needing to protect yourself from or overthrow the current or future government is another completely reasonable reason to own a firearm.
Does this mean it will be easier for me to prove that I have never run the copy of windows I was forced to buy with my new computer? I bet that's a pretty useful thing to be able to do when you're trying to get a refund for it.
maybe it's this one: http://interviews.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=99/12/10/0821224
yes. Spirit will rove farther than Opportunity.
Are you talking about Michael Bin Landon?

Anyone know of a tool or project like this?
Is this the same thing he was talking about 6 years ago? Where's the news?
Excellent. Now maybe I can figure out how to get Beagle and Dashboard working.

Measured in bang per character, that has to be the best troll ever, whether you meant it that way or not.
Can Microsoft just patch everything?
I must have missed the part where someone said they couldn't.
Sure, I have been taken in by whomever it is you're speaking of. Please send beer.
More specifically, 9/11 + Fox news.
Here's Saturday Night Live's take
You are correct, sir! When python sports a collection as good as CPAN, I'm trading in my camel for a snake. It's just not there, yet.
Um, You're reading one now. You also have posted to it, and even written a couple of journal articles on it.

According to the National Honey Board, it will last for quite a while: http://www.nhb.org/download/factsht/shelf.pdf
a honey article at about.com Honey has an indefinite shelf-life due to its high concentration of sugar.

I\'ve just read this book, and it\'s great! I\'m going to use PHP and MySQL for all of my web-based apps now!
That's nothing. I've had them localized entirely within my kitchen.
1) who the fuck are you?
2) What preference do I check to keep this crap off of my slashdot front page?
Don't worry about answering #1.
