I concur, It would be noted in a second if I tried to download a torrent from work (where I am now). Trouble is there's no way to tell if I'm downloading legal or illegal stuff...
Trust me, getting a call from the nazi-admins before lunch telling me my network access has been revoked pending piracy investigations are NOT the way I want to spend my day;-)
the pda works just fine for me. What I didn't notice at first was that you should *not* use the mousebuttons but your designated *fire* button (which in my case is CTRL). After I figured that out the PDA now works perfectly...
Eh, I stated that in the "sub"-parent;-). E.g. my first post in this thread. But to make it clear: MSN is the protocol that has never worked for me (and several others).
I believe its possible for third party clients to get it working. Its working fine with Miranda-IM, its working with Amsn (or was, been a long time since i tried that). Its working with trillian. But it's NOT working with gaim.
nope, I have the same problem. MSN simply refuse to work for me with gaim. I know several other people have the same problem. I know the gaim developers know people have problems. Yet they still release an 1.0.0. Now, do you find this odd? I do:-)
Exactly, MSN, ICQ, AOL, YAHOO are the most widely used IM's.. and if you include jabber I think you just about rounded up all of the ones people use (I don't consider IRC an IM btw, I do use it a lot however, but I prefer irssi as my client;-).
Now, imagine you have an even percentage of friends using each of the 4 major protocols.. and MSN doesn't work, SLAM you're not able to IM 25% of your friends. I can tell you something else, MSN as a IM protocol has a lot more users than 25% in europe (unfortunately, I much prefer ICQ;-).
All in all, calling something 1.0.0 when its clearly not, is.. well.. bogus:-). Had they called it 0.99.9 i couldn't have cared less, but 1.0.0 implies a fully functional product.
I haven't written jack shit, since my time is spent better doing something most programmers *can't* do. Besides, I know I suck at programming so I leave it to someone else.
What I *am* doing is wondering about the 1.0.0 tag when one of the most widespread IM protocols aren't working. Now, that's a fair whine I'd think.
Now, go back to momma and complain about her not giving you a decent sized brain:-).
No offence, but MSN has never EVER worked for me with gaim. With each new version I get another new exciting error code (lates one, in 1.0.0 is: "Unable to write to MSN server via HTTP (9)".
I know the gaim team knows that there are trouble with the MSN protocol for a lot of people, so how can you release a version 1.0.0 knowing it doesn't work?
I like the idea of a multi IM app, but unfortunately none of them has everything I need or work with all protocols. I hope gaim will work with MSN someday soon though:(
It's an awesome online musicstore, you are able to listen to previews of everything (using a flashplayer) and what you're buying is 192 kbit MP3's! Not some lame DRM format which you can't play in the future / on your favorite OS / on your favorite MP3 player..
This is how an online music store should be! Screw Itunes, screw MSN music, support stores like this!
Well, there's hardly any MSN settings to tweak (as far as I can tell) in gaim, also it's never worked for me running windows as i said below, but it has always worked when running gaim under linux, go figure heh.
Well I get the bug all the time, so let me know what I can do to help solve this issue.. having to use MSN messenger really ticks me off:(. The funny thing is the bug seems to be windows specific! Gaim works perfectly with MSN under linux (debian, default gaim package from unstable) but I've never had gaim working with MSN in windows (and unfortunately I'm forced to use windows on my corporate laptop)
if the gaim team would finish the support for normal IM's before throwing themselves into this kinda project.. I mean, I *still* can't get MSN to work using gaim...
If I'm lucky I can connect but then I can't receive messages and if I try to write someone I will be disconnected immediately..
Please fix this before making a voice version:)
2. The disk *IS* copy controlled in Europe - which is standard policy for all
Capitol/EMI titles (and a policy used by ALL major labels in Europe).
This is exactly why I'm NOT bying CD's anymore.. seriously, in most EC member countries it is a CRIME to copy the tracks of a copy protected CD to MP3 or whatever format would suit your needs. I repeat, it is a *CRIME* for you to USE what you bought in the way you see fit!
No wonder most people I know have stopped buying CD's.
I couldn't agree more. Banged my head against the wall recently with people from the unofficial punkbuster forums (since they are too afraid to have a forum themselves).
Some of the admins at that place are pure ****heads, while others do at least have the decency of admitting to behaving badly when all you do is come there for advice and questions.
Also EB is really good at that "silent" treatment.. Contacted them about a cheat I found that wasn't detected by Punkbuster.. their reply: Do not test things out yourself.. no asking for details, no asking which cheat, where I got it yada yada, just telling me to go away and mind my own business.
As I am (unwillingly) a customer of Punkbuster since I bought a game that supports it I feel that kind of behaviour not satisfactory.
It's fun, it's addictive and.. well, just download it and try it. You have to play a couple of hours to get the feel for it, but once you have that feel it's great fun. Also, there are both good and bad players playing this mod:-)
Well, thunderbird 0.4 might be a leap forward, but for me it's a leap backwards... apparently secure authentication no longer works vs. IMAP servers (worked beautifully in 0.3 vs. both an Exchange server and a courier-imapd), thus requiring me to send my passwds in clear text... uhm.. no?
I'll stick to 0.3 until this is sorted out.. If anyone has any information on this i'd like to hear about it?

I'm just using the .exe installer found on the gaim website...
nope, I'm not using a proxy. I am however using a non hotmail email for it ;-).
I agree, its quite sad :-). Only trouble is I like gaim, and I want to use it, but I can't :-(.

so basically the pi calculation is not about pi, but is about "Drink the port?".
:-)
As usual finnish makes no sense

It *might* be Pi they are calculating in that screenshot, but heck, what does "Laskenta Alkaa" means?
/.!
God I hate screenshots in a language I can't understand.
Typical finnish, first they take over the only FPS ever worth playing (aq2), now they're taking over
yeah gaim REALLY rules *sarcasm*

Take a look at www.audiojelly.com if you're into trance & electronica.

Yeah, I've had a little kdm trouble myself. I usually solve it by doing "dpkg --purge kdm" and then doing a fresh install of kdm using apt-get.

UHM... correct me if I'm wrong, but I think KDE works pretty well in Debian/unstable? I fail to see your point.
