During an interview, the sculptor specifically stated that you do NOT have to visit the site to solve the puzzle. He said that you only need the letters of the encrypted text, and that is widely available online.
Like Geico did. They didn't just make their commercials funny, they made them relevant. Who cares about car insurance? Anyone who wants to pay less for it, that's who. Who cares about Firefox? Anyone who wants to pay less for it... uh, wait a minute...
staffers caught in awkward moments installing cables or servers
Oh, yeah, I've pissed my pants laughing at techs in "awkward moments" installing servers. Yawn. Well, at least maybe they'll win $100K on America's Funniest Home Videos for the crap they serve up there as funny.
Simple. Just break something and let the managers see how it affects the bottom line. Even in "today's advanced world" that old maxim is true: the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
I wonder if he could get him to do the Goatse

Hmmm, maybe not - that might really traumatize the youngsters into saying something horrific like "Merry Christmas!"
I'd like to see 'em slam the credit bureas too, for their racketeering : first I set up a service that you cannot live without (credit cards). Then, I'll make it easy for bad guys to use that service to steal your money. Then, I'll charge you for "protection" against those bad guys. Sounds like the mafia to me.
How about an MMORPG wherein the users can create content? So, after I play a while and become famous, rich whatever, I can build my own dungeon, castle, create my own army, my own artifact, create my own quests that other players undertake... There are a LOT of users out there with good content ideas who cannot get past the large undertaking to create their own game system, but who would love to create their own content in an existing one.
Seems to me that it would be a simple thing to casemod a system into an old stereo receiver case. At least then it'd look like it belongs there, my JVC receiver sitting on top of my old JVC receiver.
"they're starting to take over more and more roles that used to be accomplished by simpler machines" - and Ahnold is about to lose his job as Ca Gov.... seems that the Terminator prophecy is just ten years later than the movies predicted.
I'm sick and tired of the same old same old : the people I want to talk/video with are not computer saavy in the least, so any time something is even slightly wrong with either PC, like an audio driver gets out of whack or someone clicks "mute" on the mic input, or replugs the mic into the headphone jack, I have to spend 20 minutes listening to my wife saying "can you hear me now?" What I want is a VTC appliance that connects to either the PC monitor or the TV set, and directly to my broadband, not my PC. (Yes, I know about DLink's product, and i2eye's connection service, and it's free for now, but for how long?)
Because Phoenix (remember Phoenix BIOS ??)went and legally reverse engineered the BIOS, and licensed them, and Michael Dell and that pony-tailed Gateway2000 guy made a lot of money and hired a lot of smooth talking lawyers.
Instead of bow-wowing about how bad goatse is, why don't you hack in and undo the goatse pic? (Maybe a nicely dressed Jennifer Aniston ???) I'd do it myself but I'm not a hacker, just a loser-lurker...
... every time I register at some new webiste or game, and I cannot use "glengineer" because some usurper has take it. I am the original glengineer! Dammit! I've been glengineer on the Internet since my days at Delphi in 1992.
It's a bureaucratic one. The manufacturers aren't going to spend time and money to make their products until it either makes business sense (Cisco, Microsoft) or they are forced to (TV stations that are having to support HDTV).
(Voice of Jennifer Anniston) OH MY GAWD!(/voice) Hasn't this guy seen what open source has done to revive dead/dying systems? Of course, they have to write the GPL correctly, but fer cryin' out loud, hasn't Open Source proved itself as a viable revenue generation model?
RISC operating systems would be great for those appliance applications where a full-up OS doesn't fit, like toasters and automobiles, for example. And Oh, by the way, protect the "rights' of those who developed it.
You've got to be kidding.... who says "potty-talk" ? And if you're at work, why are you surfing the {voice of stereotypical evangelist preacher} ee-YEE-vil internet? {/voice}
I'd appreciate not being condecended to.

The death of McAfee is exaggerated. Look at the stock price over the last 24 hours: it's up 1 point...

Sorry, me first!
Ever, ever, ever....
Sorry, just had too....

Take a look at this pic: (It's a PG-13 rated pic of a Quake2 arena, goatse style.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Quake2gloomtemp leofgoatse.JPG

Wasn't he hit by a car as he rode his bike home from a bar late one night a few years ago?

I had the same thought until I read your post. Thanks for clearing up my insanity. /. is getting weirder and weirder every day.

Security Innovation Inc - aren't they owned or at least funded by Microsoft? Move along please ... nothing new to see here .....

That video has go to be one of the creepiest things I ever saw, almost as bad as that bunny one on Ebaum's World.
