The trick is to have the kids play computer games that are fun, and just happen to have some info along with them. Games like Civilization teach history, numbers, and are fun.
So the TV news is what advertising was supposed to be? Give people information about products that they might want to buy, and throw in a few murders and rapes for entertainment value.
I didn't realize that so many of these cars had great gas milage. But I did mean when your treating them like sports cars, and not like commuting cars.
Also, I really don't think a few of those fit. I've diven quite a few of these and the RSX does not belong with the vette.
Hopefully they'll make a gas sipping sports car for people like me soon. Just imagine a Vette that gets 40+ miles per gallon without loseing performance.
Isn't ford coming out with a hybrid SUV next year? Hybrid is just a way to get power, where as SUV is a body type. There is no reason to think that they won't be hybrid big hulking SUVs that get the same gas mileage as a mid-sized car.
Yes, but the smart business person knows that a problem created and then solved tends to make one look like a hero.

The metric system hasn't won out precisely because it isn't inherently "superior" in any way. I suspect that the whining over the English system is just a meme that dates back to some mathematically illiterate folks who thought that the only way to handle anything was to make it base ten.
I'd agree with you if the English system was always base 16, but it's not. There are 12 inches in a foot, 3 feet in a yard, and 1760 yards in a mile. That's just confusing.
Good LCD monitors can display almost any resolution really well. I had an IBM A21p with a native resolution of 1600x1200, and most of the time I ran it at 1024x768 and it looked great.
Currently I have a ViewSonic LCD monitor, and whenever I play games the need to resize the scren (starcraft, etc...) the screen still looks great.
I'm just curious, are you looking at the $200 POS screens at BestBuy? Or are you looking at nice professional quality LCDs?
Many sky scrapers are built so that the strongest winds hit at an angle, so it really has a very small effect on the wind. This is not to be environmentally friendly, it is because strong winds have a tendency to make buildings sway, and people don't like that.
Also, even when a building's face is perpendicular to the wind, most of the wind energy gets redirected around the building. What happens is initially a buffer of air builds up on that face, and the rest of the wind gets pushed aside by that buffer giving an aerodynamic result (if wind speeds are constant).
I'm pretty sure that the GP was right, for the same surface area windmills effect the wind a lot more then buildings. I make this assumption based on the principles of conservation of energy.
Personally I'd rather waste their time to try and make it less profitable for the telemarketing companies in general. Have a converstaion with them, act as if your insterested...and sometimes try and scare them. I've noticed no company calls me twice:-)
Wasn't eMachines bought by compaq, which was then bought by HP? If that's the case then eMachines buying Compaq or HP's PC unit would be a better comparison.
You sure about that? The IBM has buisness units all over the world and I wouldn't be surprised if a few of their call centers were not based in the US.
I've noticed some of the larger IBM servers and racks come with a thinkpad keyboard. I wanted to buy one for myself, but they charge about $100. So next time yuour in the market for a server or a keyboard, you can still get it w/o the rest of the laptop:-)
If you have carpentry skill, then build yourself a small PC Desk with a locking cabinet for the Tower. You should then be able to use a wired keyboard and mouse.
And if you really want to be secure, you can find a way to mount the keyboard and monitor so they can't move.
It depends on how you define national defense. Personally I consider fighting/preventing the next Black Plague to fall under that category (okay, so bio and chem need to be researched) and nukes probably fall under that category (that's physics).

the next time I have an extra 80k burning a hole in my pocket, I will.
I think that's my new dream car. Thank you.

Exactly, WORM devices are the best back-up devices

How can you put Apple's QuickTime player and professional in the same sentence? It looks like a toy.
Small parts of large corperations often act like SMBs.

Anyone else think this sounds like bacta (the liquid cure all) from Star Wars?
I need to start carrying around games like that. That way I can play on my work machine w/o breaking the rules and installing software :-)
Also, IBMers carried around pads of paper with them with the word think written on the cover of the pad. Those were the original "Think pads"
To me this codec seems more useful for programmers of games and multimedia applications then for home users.

The sad part is, I didn't realize that inperfections was the word that was actually written until I read your post.
