Music brought us CDs Video brought us DVDs To me it seems logical that the trend will continue and something else (such as games) will bring us the next new type of media.
Then again, PC video games still tend to come on CD, not DVD. heck, I can't think of one game that comes on DVD and not CD.
"Lets face it, from an american standpoint, spain has little to offer most western countries outside a place to vacation and a couple of pretty women."
And this is why Americans backpacking throughout Europe need to claim that they are Canadain.
Honestly, What does the USA offer to the rest of the world? We import more then we export, so from what I can tell we're leeches on the world.
"The war on terror is a war on terrorism were a group of people attack another group of people that aren't directly related to a third group of people in attemp to gain political influence to the third group of people. The middle group is in no way militarily conected to the third group except maybe being citizens of the same country or having some other circumstance generaly out of thier control.(kind of like racism)"
Let's see here. My government (USA) bombs civilians, and holds people without the due process that we are supposed to believe is a right, even if those people just happen to live near terrorists. Hmmm, my country, or at least my country's army, is starting to sound an awful lot like a terrorist.
"In fact, how many new products (new as in design, tooling and first production) AREN'T sold at a loss?"
By "at a loss" I think they mean that the revenue per unit sold is less then the variable cost of that same unit, therfore, the more Sony sells the worse off Sony is (this is not taking into account profit from game sales, increased visibility and market share)
Why not just have a unique number on the passport (I'm sure there already is one), and then have the airport request the importent information from some central server? Makes it even harder to hack (especially if WORM media is used on the server).
Can you give some examples of how Paul contridicts Jesus? Most people I talk to think that all of the Bible is 100% true, so I'd love to show them some contadictions.
My Charter Cable DVR recently changed it's 30-second skip to a 15minute skip. I didn't mind that too much because I can still fast forward, but what really irritates me is that now some channels limit your fast forward speed to only 2x. What happens if I just want to see who wins on the World Poker Tour? Or if I just want to catch the end of a show I was watching live elsewhere? Since all I watch are old cartoons, WPT, and old sitcoms, I'll probably just get rid of my cable all together because of this.
Sprint has a new plan (I think they call it "Fair and Flexable") in which you get billed at the tiers (so if you use 105min, you ghet billed for 200, and if you use 250, you get billed for 500). The problem with this plan is that it costs more. I use anywhere between 100->500 minutes a month, and I calculated that it's cheaper for me to just pay for 500minutes/month ($40/month) instead of having my payments range from $35/month -> who knows how much.
Remember that ISPs used to do this at one time also, eventually they (most of them) switched to unlimited usage. Cell phone companies offer an unlimited option for about $100 a month (I think that's what nextel's offering it at).
Before I stop rambling, I just want to mention that one reason the cell phone companies use this structure is so that they can plan better. The more "roaming" that is occuring, the more that they need to add extra capacity, which leads to increased costs, and wasted resources...and no CEO is going to like wasted resources.
As far as I know, it isn't up to the party, it's up to the electoral college and the laws of the state. If someone gets enough electoral votes, then that person is the president.
I agree with you, mostly. The costs for land (and maybe some other things) will be greater in the richer area then the poorer area. So there needs to be a way to compensate for those differences in cost. Otherwise the poor people in the rich areas are going to be SOL.
I've had my leather wallet for the last few years. The only reason I need to replace is is because women keep on mentioning how ratty it look (the leather is all scratched up...but it has no holes or tears).
80 year old white women aren't a threat? How about 20-some year old white men? Race isn't an issue, neither is age. Anyone, and I mean anyone, can be a terrorist...just look at the Unabomber.
(a) My IBM A21P looked great at 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, and it's native 1600x1200.
It's only cheap LCD monitors that look like shit at non-native resolutions.
Well, imagine a system with many old CPUS (lets work with AMD K6-2s) verse a single AMD64. Assume that you can somehow build the cluster to get similar speed as the single chip. Now look at the amount of electricity that you're using. IIRC a modern proc doesn't use an order of magnatiude more power then older procs, but gets more then an order of magnature better performance (at least for the example chips I'm refering to). In addition there would be more hardware needed to connect the old chips. It's just cheaper to throw away your old stuff and start again.
The same goes for harddrives, I bet very few people have use for a 250MB harddrive that was considered HUGE 8-10 years ago. If I need 250MB it'll be faster to just use a flash drive (and really, it'll be pretty cheap)

The GameCube is currently PPC based, and I think I read some speculation that the next one would be also.
So unless another big console maker comes into the pictures, no matter who wins the console wars, IBM wins.

Wow, this is really off topic...
Nintendo, I know you won't listen to me, but please, do what Sony did with the PS2 and release Linux for it!

1) Format the computer :-)
2) give them a bunch of CDs
3) go out of town for the weekend, and let them at it

I really want a +1 Cynical mod right now
So who's going to create a blacklist of those companies that use this service?
I know he won't in in 2008, but will we be stuck with someone worse?
Hopefully everyone will get sick of Bush, and in 2008 we'll get someone better
That's not good...I took a picture of myself punching a cardboard cutout of W...
Hmmm, I wonder who's at the door
Germany probably has more people then Florida...
You don't need VS to write .NET applications. The compilers come with the framework, which is free, once you pay for the OS.

That or merge smaller states. Or just redraw the map of the whole country.
