Not really to within an inch - even if the cut is in the same building as the point of test. In reality to within about 5 to 20 meters - assuming correct use of launch reels and higher-end test equipment (Exfo, JDSU).
CPU - AMD FX-8320 mainboard - MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) RAM - 8GB DDR3 1600 Video - Radeon R3 1GB GDDR5 (I'm not a huge PC gamer - mostly MAME and console emulators) Storage - 1x128GB SSD for boot, 4TB HDD for storage, 3TB HDD for Windows Media Center OTA DVR (soon to be for upcoming HDHomerun DVR) Optical - LG triple-layer BD burner (mainly for ripping discs)
this system is mainly used as a Plex server, WMC box for Xbox360s as extenders (going dead when Win10 comes out), and a general office computer I use for work.
How come it wasn't as big a deal when Apple did the same thing to Samsung? Because nowadays hating "M$" has become a prerequisite for getting your "geek cred" card renewed, but being a neckbeard-having, skinny-jeans wearing tool whose smartphone case has a cutout where the Apple logo is so other tools can see you're a member of the "club" is totally acceptable.
I have pfSense running on a dual-core mini-itx Atom board with on-board Intel GB NIC, a Intel PCI-E GB NIC, 2GB RAM, and a CompactFlash to SATA adapter for storage: this setup has gotten me enterprise level performance and reliability, no matter what I throw at it - IPSEC VPN, off-site video monitoring, a Plex server serving up to six WAN side clients at once, etc. It has never frozen/locked up, it controls my commercial grade UPS which all networking gear in my riser closet is connected to, and it consumes about 13 watts under full load.
It's the people I don't hang out with who scare me, and even though I referenced the right-wing in my last post, I don't subscribe to any far-leaning ideology.
As most Americans seem more concerned about burning bushes, the destruction of society by letting anyone marry, and other ridiculous religious nonsense. The stupi-di-fi-cation of America was started by the right-wing years ago because a dumb American is a controllable American.
taken from article:
"Chernobyl's plant workers were testing the viability of using the reactor's steam turbine to generate the needed electricity until the diesel generators could begin providing sufficient power. This was the fourth time over the course of several years that this experiment was carried out -- with all earlier attempts having failed -- but this time it turned deadly."
translation: fail, fail, fail, EPIC FAIL!!!!
Nintendo did what they had to do survive this generation: If they had just released another console with a normal controller and either slightly less power than, equal power to, or more power than X360 & PS3, the hardcore crowd would have just written it off as "kiddy" like they do all Nintendo consoles. I don't remember people complaining about the high amount of crapware on PSOne, another insanely popular system, but I guess if the system is made by a megacorp people don't seem to care.
Simple. Even though I know I'll get modded down for saying this - Yes, it does open the door for people to do what they want with what they purchased(running *nix/bsd, or coding your own program for the box) which I agree you should be able to do, but everyone I've ever known who has hacked their console has done it to play pirated/burned game software.
My Wii's connected to a Mitsubishi HD1000U(720p native) projector beaming onto a 92" Da-Lite screen. Looks absolutely gorgeous. It all depends on how well your display device handles/converts SD signals. BTW I play my X360 on the same display.
any wireline connection an alarm system uses can be comprimised-whether it be POTS or VOIP. Cellular or Alarmnet radio backup are definitely suggested as either primary or backup communitation. FYI, i've been an alarm tech for 12 years now, have been a Vonage sub for past three years and alarm has never failed to send a signal to central station-including the monthly auto test signal. Of course, all my network gear is attached to a 1000va UPS and I do have cellular backup. One thing that I haven't seen anyone mention as they flippantly call alarm systems useless is the monitoring of fire and flood detection devices-my system saved my home from fire by detecting smoke coming from, of all things, a PC's power supply. If left plugged in, it may have burst into flames(maybe). But instead I got a call from alarm company stating that the fire department had been dispatched due to a trip on the hall smoke detector. The fire department almost broke the door down but I showed up and upon opening the door we were met with that familiar burning electric-ozone smell and visible smoke haze.
I've been an alarm tech for the last 12 years. My alarm system has been connected to a Vonage line for about the last three years with no problems whatsoever. What me and my company suggest is that your network gear be connected to a UPS and that the customer purchase a cellular/radio backup device for their alarm panel. A lot of our customers alarm panels use cellular as the only method of communication to our central station, because of them not having any form of dialtone at their home, either POTS or VOIP.
Spec for spec, MegaDrive couldn't touch SuperFami. How can you possibly compare the ancient even at that time MD's Motorola 68000 cpu with the SFC's custom 65816? Oh wait-let me guess-it's because since it's running @7Mhz vs 3.16, it's gotta be superior, right? I believe AMD shattered that myth long time ago. I also suppose having double the amount of system RAM doesn't really mean anything either. Ever hear a soundtrack as epic as the Final Fantasy II or III on MD? Nope, due to a flat out superior sound chip on SFC. I dare anyone to tell me that Street Fighter "Special" Championship Edition is better than any version of Street Fighter II on SFC with a straight face. I could list a slew of games on SFC that wouldn't even be near possible on MD, but I don't feel like typing for that long. As for the SFC having a problem w/flicker, it was only a problem with the 1st gen games-it's all about programming and getting the know the platform(as is the case with any console). For reference compare Super R-Type(6/91) to R-Type 3(10/94)
Actually, electrocution is performed using AC current. The first utilized an Westinghouse generator on a condemned man named Richard Kemmler in the state of New York.
"I personally have over 10,000, yes 10,000 MAME games on one of my computers."
Not possible. The latest MAME build (0.97) supports exactly 5661 games-including those that are slightly different versions of the same game, like 18 different versions of Street Fighter II Champion Edition, including bootlegs.
I actually prefer GCN's controller when playing SC2 due to how closer the buttons are to each other which make the two-button moves easier to pull off. And if you've owned a system for any amount of time you shouldn't need to get used to your controller just for one specific game. BTW, Link definitely wasn't a deal-maker in my purchase decision.
It's this exact type of hype that fanboys bought into that killed the Dreamcast. Typical Sony marketing machine agenda is as follows;
1: Announce platform and state that it's gonna blow the doors off anything else in existence.
2: Announce ports/sequels of titles from previous platform, and then accuse competition of lacking innovation and originality.
3: Show demos @ trade show-actually running on a $100,000.00 workstation-Sony fanboys begin to salivate.
4: 4-6 weeks before platform launch, leak to the press news of problems producing enough units to meet launch demand-making Sony fanboys salivate even more.
5: Launch platform in limited quantity-making fanboys wait in front of the local Best Buy for 12+ hours as a local TV news crew interviews the lose, er, customers anxiously waiting for the store to open, feeding the hype machine even more.
6: Casual gamer sees the hype coming at him from multiple directions and decides he/she must now have one so his/her friends will consider him/her 'cool'. Also now thinks competition's previously released platform as being lame, uncool, and, my personal favorite-'kiddy'.
7: Major game publisher decides their newest title doesn't fit the competition's 'kiddy' image, so it's launched exclusively on new Sony platform-other game publishers follow suit even though titles would sell like hotcakes as a cross-platform release.
8: Sony laughs all the way to the bank-celebrating another impending 4-6 years of console domination.
So, basically Nintendo should make their next console large, black, and bulbous looking with a large red "N" or "R"(Revolution} at the top of it. My little purple 'cube doesn't stand out any more than my silver HD satellite receiver does next to my many black components on my rack.
Same here. I've got two networked ReplayTV 5500 series DVR with Dish Network. There's really no other way in my opinion to watch TV. Have never missed a program, either.
This isn't a new concept - try asking someone to use another smartphone after they've used nothing but an iPhone for the last 4-5 years.
And again, Power Glove was a Mattel product, officially licensed by N* - like many other useless accessories released for the NES.
Not really to within an inch - even if the cut is in the same building as the point of test. In reality to within about 5 to 20 meters - assuming correct use of launch reels and higher-end test equipment (Exfo, JDSU).
a lot of outfits, including governments, run platforms as long as they can. see http://www.geek.com/news/commo...

also, I'm betting the percentage of /. users who've tried WP = 0.00000000001%
I'm no MS apologist, but /. seems to have become the FoxNews of tech.
nothing like a good 'ol shakedown by a government's tax authority

At least this year they didn't blame Nintendo for their financial problems.
