what gets me most are the guys who say "i thought this was great until i saw microsfot were for it, now i think it's terrible" or similar, take it on its merits, not on who's for or against it. If it's going to make the situation better than it is right now let's go for it. let's take the small wins we can get now and go for the big wins down the line.

find the easiest to install linux distro, it has to be so simple that they just click dialog boxes, when it comes to partitioning it says "perform recommended partition procedure?" and you click yes, for install you punch in basic info and click yes, the user interface is pretty much not the main issue i've encountered with people switching, it's the install, that and not being able to find software for it easily (along the lines of tucows and cnet) it may not be what linux fans want to hear, but win. users want simplicity, right now that simplicity is fed by familiarity. switching to linux needs to be as easy as doing a clean winxp install or it's not worht the hassle.

I think working non union construction (i worked my way up a non union company from helper to crew foreman and finally company foreman and project manager) is much more variable than union, largely due to the employer, my biggest beef with the unions is that for me they would be horrible, the time served basis for advancement really bothered me, I personally learn fast and can apply new knowledge quickly, in my non-union shop I was crew foreman within a year of starting out, within 2 years i was company foreman, admittedly it was a ten man company, so only 5 crews but still, If i was a union member i'd still have been holding the ladder and passing the pipewrench, although on the other hand i had to leave construction due to a major car crash where some kid drove a ford truck into the drivers side of my bug, being in a union probably would have helped me out there.

maka a distinction between graffiti and vandalism, while the two may once have been considered the same they now are not, graffiti is a visual representation, is it a form of art? it surely is, Vandalism however is crime, and should not be tolerated, draw a parallel to car racing, the difference between the street racers and organized amateur racing clubs, once is criminal and potentially dangerous, the other legal, well organised and accepted. The solution is to provide an outled for graffiti artists, not condemn them.

i think the point about rfid is that it can be detected passively, having a concealed carry permit and carrying a gun is fine right now, a police officer won't know unless he searches, for which he must show just cause, if RFID tags are intrroduced into guns then a police officer carrying a handheld rfid reader would know you're carrying when he gets within a certain distance of you. not that i think that's a bad thing, honestly i can't think of a good reason to want to carry a concealed weapon unless you're in law enforcement and i don't believe anyone other than law enforcement should be allowed to carry weapons at all. hell honestly i think guns should be fucking outlawed, but that's my opinion and i can accept that others don't agree. I think that the right to bear arms in a well organized militia is a great idea, but that well organized militia is the Armed Forces, there's no need for a citizens militia anymore, the frontier no longer needs to be tamed, let's lose the handguns and assault weapons, keep the rifles and shotguns for ranchers, hunters, farmers, etc, people who actually have a use for them.
