    how long is a session? I reboot only when required and never shutdown. I am the 100% senario, and I don't have a problem with that, I generally have 3-4 weeks between reboots.

    Wait a min! I'm in Tampa and the 1.5m/384k plan cost me 80 bucks a month ontop of my phone bill. But it's a hell of a lot faster then the $45 RR service I got rid of. I'm calling them right now...

    Actually SP2 will be hell on my company's web interface. We supply order data for some 400+ trading partners, many use our web front end to pickup and send data.

    Our B2B site uses wizard tools in the form of popup dialogs and allow realtime creation of data files that are "pushed" file downloads. To be clear, our users come to our site and expect the data we are trying to send them, but by absolutly blocking spawned windows and automatic downloads, users are going to spend a lot of time on the phone trying to find out how to make IE work the way IE was working.

    I Concur with parent. My hotmail account accepted a Gmail invite not more than 20 min ago. I had no issues, other than Gmail being down/slow, probably being slashdotted...

    I'm from San Diego, Lived in LA and Klamath Falls, OR. Everyone I know calls it I-5. Seeing it on /. called "The 5" looks very strange to me, but I guess if on the occasion I don't use "I", I might say "the 5 freeway", so "The 5" is in there too. I just never thought of it that way.

    Right-side passing is "Passing on the right side of a vehice in a single lane", basically this only affects two things, motorcycles, and people who try to drive in the dirt.

    Passing slow left traffic in the middle or right traffic lane, in not against any law. It's actually in CVC 21659 that slower traffic is required to get out of the far left and middle lanes if they are not overtaking other cars.

    I actually get very little spam in my inbox for hotmail. Their spam filters work very well. I even added support@hotmail.com to my filter so I stop getting emails to "upgrade" for 19.95 and so far they have honored it.

    I love this HL2 case, too bad he had to go and make the case useless by putting the usual frigging HOLE (a.k.a. "window") in the side - they do make cases for RF emitting/sensitive devices like Faraday's cages for a reason.

    Assuming FLAC is truly LOSSLESS:

    1) Is it really a codec? Seems to me it is a compression method for media, like .zip .tar etc., not an encoder... technically.
    2) It should sound exactly like the original. LOSSLESS = no loss. No point in comparing it to lossy codecs, unless it's not truly lossless.
    3) The stored file sizes although smaller than the raw music are still way to big to be portable IMO.

    But SCO did put their money where their mouth is. They copied text, waited for someone to notice, then paid up without a court order. That's pretty much the way most businesses work.

    I say "Ugly bags of mosty water" all the time to refer to some of the larger people at work. I once tried to explain the Star Trek episode it came from, but it was entirely too geeky for me to finish. In the end I just shrugged and said, "I dunno, something I read on Slashdot"

    The Indian people did not come up with the term Native American. There is no supporting argument that when confronted by the white man and labeled "Indian" they stepped up and said, "my people are called ". This is just one more term generated out of the new era of P.C. But that just proves that you can change the name of something with histroical value, and it might stick.

    Now, maybe I'm just being an old fuddy-duddy, but it seems to me you can't land on Hispaniola and get away with calling it India for very long, no matter how exotic it looks.

    Columbus landed in the Americas and called the natives Indians because he thought he landed in India. That seems to have withstood time. Even the Indians didn't try to change that. Giving a random name to stuff kinda funny. Now we call a group of people African Americans, although non of them come from or have even traveled to Africa. The term is even used for people who are not even American. Amazing.

    They must have changed this a while back. You do not need a CC to have an iTunes account. This is how they allow for Prepaid cards and gift certs now.

    I know that I did not enter a CC number when creating a login for my 9 y/o daughter to download free itunes.

    I was confused about this 50%, my mistake. This is where I got the % from:

    The Exempt Employee Must Primarily Perform Exempt Duties.

    To be exempt, the employee must be engaged in work that is "primarily" intellectual and varied, etc. The rule of thumb is that the employee must be engaged in his/her "exempt duties" for over 50% of the work week. However, under the federal rules, there is not an absolute 50%-plus rule if it is unquestionable that the employee's role is as an exempt individual.

    However there is a stipulation about exempt vs non, but not a ratio. You just must be able to prove that your employee is exempt. You can't just blindly say "Sorry no OT for you". and you can get called on it.

    I specifically did not apply for this money, or take Lindows/Linspire up on getting my money for me.

    1) I do not wish to support Lindows in anyway, Linux or not.

    2) What isn't claimed goes to the kids (or 2/3 of it). If I took the 100 bucks I'd just buy more stuff. I think the schools could do a lot more with that portion.

    Salaried, AKA Exempt Employees, are exempt from overtime pay. If you have a contract for $60K per year and no other stipulations you should not expect additional pay for working over 40hours per week.

    Employees that are on an Hourly wage get paid hourly. This new law is saying that if your wage is over this $20 mark, you do not have a right to earn time and a half, but you will still get paid on your hourly wage. If you work 60 hours you get paid for 60, not 70 (40 + 20 + (20/2))

    Companies are required to have no more than 50% staff on Exempt status (ratio may change from state to state)

    Catching some luser with a hand held cam should be a hell of a lot easier than using NV goggles. If someone is dumb enough to use a cam, they probably left the autofocus on. Anyone that has ever pointed a camera at a another camera with autofocus would see a big red dot flashing in the view finder. So a $250 handheld would have spotted this guy just as easy. Better yet, put a bunch of IR lights behind the screen, and ruin the ability to use a camcorder.
