    Does Evernote lay claim to everything that is on their servers, à la facebook ?
    What are the security implications of having designs of future products stored on an external company's servers ?
    What about the case when Evernote servers are down/unavailable ?

    Genuine questions. I have only evaluated Evernote for personal use, not for a business.

    Erm, no.

    Windows 2000 is the OS that joined the enterprise NT4 line and the consumer 9X line.
    First to have the stability of the NT kernel and run all the software of the consumer version http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W...

    The fact that microsoft released a bit later the same year another consumer only version (ME) is irrelevant.

    Not saying there isn't merit to your viewpoint but ... I wish european leaders of the 1930' had done something more than just diplomacy when Hitler was invading/annexing neihbouring countries.
    Kinda like I wish current european leaders would do something more affirmative than "dialogue" with Putin.
    We know how effective diplomacy and dialogue are when dealing with a bully, right ?

    The last gen (X360 & PS3) aimed at 720p native.
    The current gen (Xbone & PS4) aims at 1080p native.

    It seems a bit exaggerated to expect them to aim at UHD 2160p or 4k.
    Just have a look at the electrical and transistor power that a PC actually needs to achieve that.
    Of course, they can still output 2160p, but only with simpler games. In the same vein, the original Xbox had several 1080i games.

    Cheaper and better than ... what ?
    The F-22 was inferior in almost every important metric to its competitor, the YF-23.
    Except for being backed by the side with most corrupt^H^H^H^H lobbying power.

    You conveniently forgot that microsoft can update windows update, even with windows update turned off.
    In a nutshell, using a windows OS mean you don't actually own your machine anymore.

    First, I'll say thank you for bringing a game like Vendetta Online to my attention.

    It seems positively interesting, I'm glad to know about its existence, and I have a deep respect for the devs for such longevity in the game market (and the support of so many different OS ... impressive).

    Second, a few points about Star Citizen that Vendetta Online doesn't have.

    Chris Roberts.
    Private Servers.
    Top of the line graphics and aimed for the future : Latest Crysys engine + 4k resolution.

    To conclude, do not be jealous of Star Citizen and see it as a competitor. See it as a flagship that will dynamize the space sim market and bring lots of new and old players, which will ultimately benefit all actors of this game market.

    Have you thought about going to neighbouring Australia for testing purposes ?
    They have lots of (air)space and maybe their AA isn't as boneheaded ?

    New Caledonia isn't far either and also has an RC community, as well as open spaces.

    Well, no. Amongst the big three Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony, the last one has revised some of its legacy behaviour, learnt its lessons and pulled a 180.
    Let's compare the PS3 and the PS4 :

    PS3 : asymmetric architecture (power PC + SPE), custom designed processing units (SPE), low amount of video RAM, requires programmers to adapt to its architecture.

    PS4 : unified memory model, industry standard CPU, maximum amount of video RAM available (unified memory), includes circuit hardware to alleviate programmer work (uncompress data for example)

    I have no love for Sony, but I have to admit I'm favorably impressed by the change in design philosophy of their main console.
    They DID change somehow for the new round of console generation.
    The long string of quarters in the red probably has something to do with it.

    Minitel usage, apart from a few services and for a a very limited connection time, was on a pay per minute (seconds ?) basis.
    A bridge to Minitel would had to include a billing system.

  20. Which reminds me of playing the original Unreal Tournament or Quake III on the DreamCast, with keyboard, mouse, hooked up to a PC monitor and on the LAN/internet with ethernet card add-on.

    Some console makers did get it. Others didn't. Sigh.

    I can do that.
    I can take my copy of Half-life 2 and lend it, resell it, do whatever I want with it.
    The hint ?
    It's not on the PC.

    My X360 copy of Half-life 2 will still work when steam doesn't exist anymore.

    When Valve started Steam and announced Half-Life 2 on Steam only, I politely refused. And I still do.
    I like to own my games, not rent them.
    Choose wisely.

    IIRC, Hitler ordered his troops to stop their march on Moscow when they were about to reach it (something like 20km ?), and divert south to take hold of oil minefields. This, of course, to the shock of all his generals.
    Had he not made this gigantic mistake, the Russian command would have been decapitated.

    Also, when presented with the first jet-powered aircraft, Hitler said it was the bomber he had been waiting for. NOT an air-superiority fighter.

    And let's not forget his view of electromagnetism as "Jew science", and thus lack of research in this field (no radar for them).

    In a nutshell, just wanted to point out that an hypothetical death of Hitler isn't a clear-cut case as to its consequence on history.

    Some games who were made for the DreamCast towards the end of its life were ported to be early titles on the XBOX.
    Such as, for example, Gunvalkyrie. It's a pity because we have reports the game was made with online play options on the DreamCast (all models had a modem integrated, ethernet card add-on available), and didn't get it on the XBOX (on-line capabilities weren't available then : Halo CE doesn't have XBLA play).

    PCDitto as a pure software PCXT emulator ran slowly. Which is quite understandable.
    However, as with other PCXT emulators back then, there were little hardware boxes linked to the PC itself that contained an Intel CPU.
    Those were faster.

    As for emulating Mac, it was the work of Dave Small and his amazing Spectre GCR, that required a set of Mac ROMs.
    Once set, your ATARI ST would become a Mac, running 20% faster, with a screen estate 20% larger while using the same exact CPU at the same speed.
    A testament to his programming skills, to the sane design of the ATARI ST by Shiraz Shivji (done in 5 month http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiraz_Shivji ) and the boneheadedness of Apple at the time (an OS programmed in PASCAL .. yuck).
