1) Codewarrior for PalmOS (latest version: 9, $199.99)
2) prc-tools (gcc toolchain, $0)
3) PalmOS Developer Suite (prc-tools based, Eclipse IDE, $0)
4) For Java: IBM's WebSphere Everywhere Micro Environment (sold through IBM reps)
There are also a lot of other compilers and/or tools that can be used to develop PalmOS applications, most of them royalty-free.
What do Windows Mobile/Pocket PC/Smartphone/CE developers have?
1) eMbedded Visual Tools (no longer being offered, $0 at the time)
2) Visual Studio.NET/2003/2005 Pro & up (offered via MSDN subs, $(thousands & up) )
4) For Java: IBM's WebSphere Everywhere Micro Environment (also available for these devices)...
The Express editions of VS 2005 do NOT generate Windows M/PPC/SP/CE executables. Also, unless my googling is faulty, there are no
royalty-free compilers/toolchains for these devices.
So, unless a) you have your own company, or b) you have a lot of money, then you can't possibly "fire up VC.NET and write a quick app for my phone" unless you're using your employer's work time to do it...
Dude, you're not getting it. TV remotes are not supposed to be thrown at a TV screen, just to point at it so we can do things with the TV. Wiimotes, in the other hand, are >>intended to be moved at high speed in all directions, and many of them, towards the TV screen. If you throw a TV remote at the screen, it's your fault if it gets broken. If you throw your Wiimote at your screen, it's because you (and, probably, Nintendo) were expected to do it, and if your screen gets broken, it is an accident. One that, many people would think, shouldn't be happening. I think that's why the Council is intervening. Good for Nintendo to pay attention to the issue, and reinforcing the straps so it doesn't happen as often as it is now. Though... I still think we should be holding the 'motes a little firmer, y'know...
Awww. Guitar Hero's such a good game... how come anyone could be so upset about this game as to grab an entire band, and smash a Guitar Hero game box to pieces with each member of the band...
How does one know who wins a console war? Everybody I know, and his grandmother, assures me Sony won the last one... but neither Sony or MS did a cent with their consoles! What's the criteria? What numbers should we compare to define who wins this round???
I'm pretty sure he has good intentions. He just took all this videogame-violence-thing a bit too far. And he became basically mad in the process, without he recognizing it. Happens to a lot of people.
... if you ask me, I think they just realized they can't fight piracy, so they gave up... but never, ever, EVER admitting that to the general public. Maybe now they can focus on TRULY helping the artists they claim to be supporting...
... when certain objects are placed next to superlenses, the light bouncing off them is essentially erased by light reflecting off the superlens, making the object invisible.
Maybe I'm getting this the wrong way, but if the object "absorbs" the light coming to it through the lens, wouldn't that object be perceived as black? I thought "invisible" is when any light coming behind the object passes through it, and into the observer's eye, with no obstacles whatsoever. But maybe it's just me...
Man, that's great. First a heart attack, and now (because of that) I can't login anymore to my computer to finish my project due TODAY at 3:00PM... aagh... it's coming again...
Should be interesting to find out if recent Harley Davidson's models are selling less than the older, classic ones. Are the new ones NOT better than the old ones? Why does people even bother to buy them? Uh?
... when, instead, you can have a nice web browser that is able to find everything you need? I mean... Business apps? They're there (on the net), and they're online, too. Games? That too. Music? Yep. Talking to people? There. Buying goods, bidding for them, reviewing, commenting...? All there. News? Humor? Radio? TV? Food? Electronics? Drugs (medical)? The hell, puppies????
Sometimes I wonder if 80% of Earth's people knows WHY does Windows, Linux, Solaris, PalmOS, whatever, must be present on our computers. Do they really care? I think not, as long as they have Word, Excel, Photoshop, and a good web browser. Oh, and, OF COURSE, Google.
... I'd bet "Golden Sun" 1 & 2 are considered by many "the best RPG ever" (???) precisely because of how these game(s) make them feel. I, myself, think I'm among these people.
I sincerely doubt an open development licensing model is gonna hurt Nintendo. They learned A LOT with the GC and the DS. Until now, AFAIK, nobody did succesfully copy any game from these systems for piracy purposes. Also, lets remember that:
1 - Revolution comes with a SD card expansion slot;
2 - Revolution will be able to read standard 12 cm discs (CD, DVD?)
So, as I see it, they will actually let you develop your applications such that they will be stored and played in a CD, DVD, or SD card.
Piracy? I doubt it. For large corporations, they will probably use their own disk format, similar to the one used in GC, which will probably not be readable with the standard, free SDK. They will even be protecting it's own media with RSA, like they did with the DS. See now? They will certify AND protect his own business model, while at the same time making us homebrew developers VERY happy.
Until this year's E3, I believed Nintendo was the same as Sony: a company looking only for money while offering "so-so" quality products. BUT, if this thing really comes into reality, then I'll have to say it: I LOVE NINTENDO!:)
There is huge opportunity in games for cell phones...
I sure hope companies get a deeper look at it. Mine & wife's cell phones have some really, really <expletive level="VERY HIGH"/> games not worth the millions of dollars I've heard they invest on.

A suggestion: Have a look at Mono. Support for Windows.Forms is already there. Go for it.
Well, certainly "Pi" is less than "American Pie". By 9 letters and a space. - Izhido

Hey... what about Spamhaus? Did they already close? If they did, that would suggest something, don't you think?

They're porting Mario Golf to PS3 ??????
... Spielberg don't go the L. British/Origin way. Would be a pity. I like most of Spielberg's movies.
Um... do you have a cell phone? Just checking...
