  1. Re:Its not rocket surgery... on Staying In Shape vs. a Busy IT Job Schedule? · · Score: 1

This is not a solution - things like crunches, pushups, etc., burn, compared to aerobic exercise, VERY few calories - take a look at any calorie calculator on the web and you will see this is true.

Insoluble fiber, that "flush" calories don't count as calories, and soluble fiber contains calories that "count". Protein, on its own, does nothing at all to build muscle - protein is part of what allows the body to build muscle, but only exercise actually builds the muscle, and you have to build a lot of muscle to burn fat, so simply upping protein intake is not a real solution either. The small snacks thing, and the proper breakfast, do help though. And exercise is basically the best cure - take a look at the national weight loss registry - people who were successful at losing and keeping weight off (>30 pounds, off for >1 year) worked out at least 5 times a week, at least an hour each time.

As is my wife, but we both have gotten over it in a desire to lead healthier lives - I now do distance running and triathlons (more the triathlons, as it works more of the body, and is easier on the legs) and my wife does distance running and is thinking about the triathlons too. I understand completely about doing this stuff in front of people, but I just had to get over it - better than to be dead early! (And in the long run, it saves a ton of money by being healthy) I have lost 30 pounds, brought my blood pressure down, my overall cholesterol down, and my HDL (the good kind) way up. It really works!

It is true to an extent that they will be "willing" to roll out their services to anyone who can pay, but often times the premium is many thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. I know this from the experience of living in rural VT and writing to Comcast to ask specifically about getting cable, which is run to about 1 mile from my house. They wanted $64,000 to run the line (which is buried here, sadly) to my house.

Restraining orders are for more than just keeping people away from other people. I think you are thinking of PCMCIA cards that you take in and out all the time. And in response to what the blogger is posting, he could remove the MiniPCI card and it would boot fine, and then revert his BIOS back to his old version (unless for some reason it had some VERY critical fix) and then put his card back in and simply not do the BIOS updates unless he really, really has to. But so basically, you don't have to worry at all, me thinks :)
