This was covered a long time a go on slashdot, I'll give you the summary. It was not like a final fantasy game. It's kinda hard to show a character 'leveling up' before a big battle. I think that they could have had better luck showing a hero rising instead of giving us caracters that were already advanced, but I understand that that is time prohibitive. I. however, digress. My point is that when I watch that movie I can forget that I am watcing something that was animated, I get sucked right into the movie (see what happens when you station you animators within a few miles of a hawaian beach =), and suspenidng my disbelief is not even a conscience thing, it just happens.
I believe that is the key for a movie. No matter how you do it, get your audience to make it their reality for a little while. If you screw up to bad in any one spot, the audience will not like the movie while they watch it. Graphics is not the only way to do it, Final fantasy seven had horrid graphics, but I forgot I was playing a game at times.
Over anal-lizing any one part of a piece of art will get you no where. You have to look at the whole. That is how it is intended to be viewed.

If you have a linux box, and some of your friends also have boxen this is easy with a simple
pppd noauth passive pty "ssh -C $THEIRBOXEN -o Batchmode=yes pppd notty notty noauth" ipparam vpn $LOCALLANADRESS:$REMOTELANADDRESS
Then config routing on all boxes.
Been doning it for months now. With the -C option to ssh the whole things gets compressed. Works well, but I did wish that I could port it to windows for my other friends w/o boxen. Ah well...
Trusted computing, bytecode boxes, XML, NTFSv2 w/Axcess extension, "Now swaps everythin gout of memory for no apparent reason, and then back again, and out again... IN EVERYDAY COMPUTNG!" Microsoft, thank you for making the world a better place. Maybey in your nest life you'll realize that radical steps should be taken incrementally, not all at once.
Seriously, this seems like it could backfire on them, badly. They seem to want to create something perfect right off te bat.

Wow.
Utterly and completely wow.
I feel that there is a hole inside of me now.
I remember norternlight.com TV ads.
Now thats a segment of my childhood. I got all 120 stars, hacked mario 64 with a gameshark pro to make him fly when I hit the L button, and drop when I let go, I used altavista (effectively at that, and it got to be a trick before I found google), Linux seemed arcane and weird to me.
Stories like this make me feel that somehow the world is declining, that the corprate giant is stangling all that was one promised to us for the few bucks that the promise had in its back pocket.
God, I can see why my parents are the way they are.
I hope that this is just the lack of sleep and the depressing realization that the web is no longer radical typing. I hope I wake up and think that I was crazy last night. Mabey...
Oh well, I allways have Doc Seus to break me out of deep thoughtfull, depressing moments, like this:

I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the fact that now I can get as much horssepower into a few AA batteries and the palm of my hand as I could in the entire SNES+TV combination.
I really wonder why Nintendo couldn't have done this so that they cold just re-release all the old SNES games in GBA format?
Makes me think theres a reason they didn't.
Two words from calc Two: Gaberiel's Horn.
Rotate f(x)=1/x around the y-axis and x between 1 and infinity is the horn. Finite volume (Pi something), infinite surface area. It could never hold enough paint to cover the insidde of the can =).
We have been depending on the difficulty computers have recognzing the shapes of obfustacated letters.
Why not make the try to identify things, objects.
There are a substantial number of warping effects that can be applied to a picture, and so long as the users language is known, and they are reasonably congnent, they cold recognize a barn, a duck, etc even if it was warped, twisted, or miscolored to some extent.
(example: there is a picture of a barn in the forground, the question is what is the color of the object in the picture, or what is the object, many questions based on one picture=)
I feel that this is the next generation of captchas. Personaly I like a picture scheme better, it could be easier to decipher than some of theose HORRIBLY degraded captchas I've seen. Plus it relies on a deeper ability to recognize shapes and patterns and colors and resolve them into a recognizeable image in our minds, and computers now cannot hope to recognize a warped human face from a barn.
I feel that this sort of authentication could also be the key to blocking spam all together.
A user could add E-mails to their trused list, and certain sites (ebay, hotmail, etc) could be on there by default, all others will have their message bounced with a captcha included, and an explination of what is happening. When they prove themselves human, they can get added automagically. Put the work on the senders end. If you send an email to someone, add them to the trused list, etc, for ease of use on users.
I feel that computers and spammers will have a hard time with any scheme that does not involve standardized things, like letters.
I learned from reading the included help files.
Best documentation out there.
After I muddled though the tutorial, I went wild, and just used the help as reference. Wish i hadn't lost my old files before I had backup systems in place;(.
I'm sad now.
This is some of the most creative work I've ever seen. GREAT job.
I used to use POV (no time now) and I never even had thoughts that loked like this, let alone project that good.
Unbelieveable.
Look at it this way:
Your hard-drive, flash memory, cd-R's, etc all may have had a tax added to them to pay the music companys a royalty for any music that may be copied to them.
Morpheus for what you want, and if they come after you, tell them that you paied, just not through normal channels. Present recipt as nessary.
My sig was a bit to large, I'll grant you the full source, compile and run at your leasure:
#include
int main()
{
int a=0x1ade0,b=92,c=0x1e40a8,d=0x90bdd,e=116,f=72,i;
for(i=0;i
putchar(i>((c>>i*4)&15)&31)-13):(f+=(b>>((d>>(i-6) *3)&7)&7)-2));
return 0;
}
See, simple. Just have to put in a main, #include, some commas, and a for loop =D.
(YEAH, I know...I spent a lot of time on it, and had to sccrifice formating to get it out)
The 3d Accel is prob off. Not sure where to fix, not near MY computer right now...Somewhere in the graphical settings.
Try Google-ing, and also lok at the documentation for the driver (if any) thats where I found out how to get things going on my NVIDIA, had to pass an option directly to the driver, pretty simple, hard to find the option, though.
While I use Fedora, and previously RedHat, I do love to see someone mking money (or at least loosing less) on a Linux Marketshare.
The more money linux makes, the more money will get poured into it. So long as Linus doesn't sell out this is a good thing, and I like it.
Maybey its time to give Mandrake a try, hows the support (ie, is there an up2date style thing thats free like in fedora?)?
Getting a kernel or anything to boot off of a usb key is a pain in places that I didn't even know i had places. The hardware has to have a system in place to map the usb dongle to a hard drive (like the hard drive image on a cdrom) or it's going to be a battle for you that i have yet to win, even loading the initrd.img (INItial Ram Disk compressed with gzip) from a floppy.
I will admit that better men than me have tried and succeded, but not without sacrificing simplicity to verry angry gods of madness.
if your hardware will not support mapping a usb anything to a hard drive/floppy drive like interface that the boot-loader can understand, I wish you luck. But if you can pull it off, look into the initrd.img, that can teach you a lot about the booting process of linux, and you may be able to get a fast booting rescue system rolled to your strict specs (its nice, believe me, long pain in the whatever, but nice)(Also there is an option in RedHat's initrd.img that keeps the kernel option from forcing the kernel to boot from the specified hard drive btw. I forget where it is, but its one of the scripts, it sticks out after you see it, I fixed mine;).
Once you get a kernel to boot up and dump you into a basic shell, look at this.
Lots of usefull info on making a nice live system. The info on cds ought to translate pretty well to usb, it did for me.
Good luck.
Peace, Love, and [paying] Rent. Pick two.
I like to respond to my responses.
I never was quite sure what the exact context was.
Thank you.
I s'pose that even psychos have their good ideas;)
Seriously though, we should kill all the sue happy/copyright crazy lawers. (If I get bit by a dog, I'm su(e?)ing, thats ok, if I invent a uniqe way to turn plastic into cheap efficient fuel it deserves a patent, but I'm never going to patent a right click blocker, or some trivia like that, for example)
Wow, I ranted a lot there, ok done now.
Thx again for finding and explining the context.
Peace out.
The concept that any idea nowadays is uncopyable or un-emulateable is rediculous. I'm sick of companys thinking that they have any unique ideas that someone else cannot make a cheap duplicate of. I've yet to see a great, profitable idea go un-coppied, despite patents. I blame the lawyers, what was the line in 'king lear', blank all the lawers? It'll come to me, but Shakespear has verry little advice that is not still valid.
10 minutes to discover how it works. 1 hour to code the block. 1 day to submit to mozilla. 1 week till al bugs are out, and a patch is out and woring for windoze, linux, BSD, MAC, and maybey even DOS. Nothing to worry about.

I threw a party for my roomates birthday. Loads of fun and liquor. Had my server spin tunes from a playlist, etc. Some people were looing at my movies, somehow Finding Nemo was picked.
Now, I think that this is the trick, I could be wrong, but I turned on the subtitles so that we could read the movie when we couldn't hear it.
By the time Dorry and Marlin were with the sharks I had 20+ drunks sitting still, quitetly watching Finding Nemo!!!! Weirdest thing I EVER saw.
Anecdote asside, turn on closed captioning, more will watch, cause they can read what they can't hear. Unless its just porn, then just turn it up. Either way;)
With this being posted here someone with more knowledge of java than me is going to have the idea to give back false results. That is the reason for an install, to give the project mamgers control.
I bet that sometime son they are going to be finding lots of collisions, all results from the same IP.
Hope they have some sort of filter.
Its the evidence. I can make a person look like they are having sex with president. She did it. I know she did. Her website is a giveaway. BUT Robin Williams has admited to smoking pot in his shows. He can just sy he was lying for a joke. I've seen posters of guys doin' weed. They can say it was tobaco. The smae sort of thing could protect her if she was innocent.
I would just pay the ticket and not do it again. On second thought, I wouldn't do it. But if she wants to fight it, and the pictures were actually photoshopped (again, they weren't she is guilty, a toutched photo would not have such poor contrast) She could prove it, I'm sure,and get off.
Perhaps she should just do that in the future.
On a side note, I think that this isn't our rights being nibbled away at, but more of an example of what police do at the office.
Now if you'll pardon me, I'm off to fight crime.
Dude, I will listen to you. I don't even know you. My girlfriend i bi-polar. I've heard those two words a lot. I allways take them seriously, even if she won't.
