Ever seen the Dementers in the Harry Potter films? Larry Ellison was the model. In terms of Corporate Evil, Oracle is the Prince of Fucking Darkness. They make Microsoft look like a bunch of panty-waists.

It contains this thinly veiled solicitation to defend spammers:
"As a mailer, you have a tough road to navigate. While proper and legal commercial e-mail is simply a business tool used by most of the top online and offline businesses today, there still is the perception that all such mail is "spam". Of course, nothing is further from the truth."

    Ouch!

    This is pretty freaking outrageous.

If there's any way to organize and refuse to relay mail from any of these greedy self-appointed guardians, I'd certainly be interested. Blacklisting all mail out of their domains would probably be extremely educational for them.

Good for the goose...good for the gander.

Time to scope your requirements. If you're just chatting up your buds, do you really need much more than a small, choppy image? If you were doing remote brain surgery or something extremely critical where a great deal of visual information was necessary, that's another matter.

I'm not being argumentative - just asking the question.

Like a lot of machines at that time, it was only semi-compatible with the IBM PC.

  20. Disney's soul... on Can Hayao Miyazaki Save Disney's Soul? · · Score: 2, Insightful

The Disney that produced all the most beloved classics was a company started and run with an iron hand by one individual individual with a clear creative vision. Walt Disney was not the avuncular character we all saw on Wonderful World of Disney, but he was, in addition to being a shrewd businessman and (reputedly) chain-smoking tyrant, a person intimately involved in the creative process.

These days Disney is just another mega corporation run by MBAs and Financial types. The movie segment is a small part of their empire which primarily leverages old intellectual property (think "classic Disney films").

Save their soul? I think not.
