    But unless we get hard drive (or equivilent) that can support average transfer rates faster than that we're gonna have some problems.

    (Bus throughput probably won't be an issue. SCSI will probably be moving 1 GB/sec in five years.)

    Sure, sure. Very accurate so long as you're not holding it a few degrees off . . . . . .

    Still, Apple mice do have a feature that I rather like: symmetry and a single button. I'm ambidextrous and it makes it so I can use the thing with either hand without any weird curvature or need to invert the buttons, either in the box or in my brain. (Admittedly we mutants are a rather small market, though I'll bet the lefties like the mice too for a similar reason.)

    You've got a problem with step 1. The legit Linux torrent sites aren't gonna post links to said warez torrents.

    They could post fake Linux torrent sites, which would get annihilated. I'm not sure what that would accomplish though. The feds may be evil, but they aren't stupid.

    It's pretty hard to snoop packets on a chunk of Cat5. If the traffic is sensitive just use that. Cheaper and faster anyway.

    Yes, Linux is more secure, but I wouldn't be too cocky about it. Don't think that the Federal Police can't find hackers good enough to r00t the average Linux box.

    Besides, if they really want what's on your box they'll get a regular warrant and take your drives. Or, if allowed in America Jr., do a "sneek and peek", boot your system from a live CD, copy all your files to another drive, and add a special kernel module.

    I think the reason, I at least retain so much data is not any kind of a hoarding instinct. What I seem to do is more due to being completely disorganized and lazy.

    So I'm running low on space. I could do one of the following:
    a) Sort through it all and decide what's useless. (This would take forever.)
    b) Add more drive space. Drives are cheap.

    Even if they don't get them it's a hell of a bargaining chip to get the US to play ball on a lot of other issues.

    700 kbps video + 128 kbps audio * 2 channels = 410 MB per hour.

    1.6 (marketing) terabytes / 410 MB = 3900 hours of divx porn.
