  1. flimsy looking on Spirit Rolls on Mars · · Score: 1, Interesting

Why are the robots we send to mars always so flimsy looking, the look like they are designed to easily get stuck or break,If i was designing a mars rover i would make sure that
    A) It was capable of clearing debris off it's solar panels
    B) it could right itself if overturned
    C) it's propulsion system was designed to resist getting tangled up by parachutes and any other stuff around the landing spot
    D) it Carrys a redundant solar array in case the solar array is damaged
    E) it has to be able to "lift" itslef in any direction in case it gets stuck at an odd angle, 6 to 8 extendable rods facing different directions should be fine

Subsidy lockout exists because cell phones don't actually cost $50-$100, they are alot more and the provider pays most of that price counting on customers using their service long enough to make up their investment, if you buy a phone at it's actual cost you will be able to use it on any compatable network, but with the mess that is the current cell network in the US i'll stick to subsidy locked cheap phones for now.

Exactly, any time you allow an external signal to dictate where a plane goes it can be manipulated, a laptop hidden onboard with some specialized eqipment could make a fake GPS signal so instead of avoiding a no-fly zone the system forces the plane into a target without ever having to physically overpower the pilots, thus circumventing the new cockpit doors. the only way to make this feasable would be using inirtial sensors on board the plane to determine acceleration and calculate position that way, but even then messing with the initial position setting could get around it.
