You're wrong.
Currently when a flight enters an Air Traffic Controllers sector, a piece of paper is printed out with details of that flight on it, these are called 'Flight Progress Strips'. Controllers use these strips to keep track of where a flight is supposed to be going and what instructions have been given to it.
Basically EFD aims to replace these paper strips with an electronic version.
They don't write the fliight number on a piece of paper.
When a flight is due to enter a controllers sector, a strip will be printed and given to the controller. This strip will have all the details for the flight including callsign/route/destination etc...
When a controller gives instructions to that flight, he writes on the piece of paper so he can keep track of what instructions have been given to it.
AFAIK not when in Extended-Squitter mode which ADS-B uses. It then constantly broadcasts its GPS position. IIRC the surface movement RADAR at London Heathrow uses Extended Squitter to track aircraft as its difficult to use Primary and Secondary RADAR is such a cluttered area.
Mode C Secondary Surveilance RADAR(SSR) is used to broadcast the Altitude of the aicraft.
Mode A SSR is used to discover the identity of an aircraft, a Mode A transponder replies with a 4-digit code which is processed by the ATC hardware/software to correlate it with the corresponding Callsign.
To follow some of your (and a lot of other people in this nation) logic, then the person who sold him the shoes he was wearing as well as his socks, underwear, pants/shorts, shirt, and hat are partially to blame as well. Or who has been selling him food during his time of planning? What about the postal workers that took his mail being sent to NBC? What about the environmentalists that allowed there to be clean air, because if he had lung cancer it might have stopped him...yes, that sounds ridiculous because it IS ridiculous.
Did his shoes/socks/underwear etc.. help him kill anyone? No. Could he have killed anyone if he had not been sold a gun/magazine etc..? No. I don't think your analogy holds up, he could have still killed people had he not been sold clothing, but had he not been sold a gun/gun accessories then he would not have been able to shoot anyone.
Ahh, i see you fall for the "drunken text message" trick too? Always gets me that one does, if it weren't for a 'sent items' folder on my phone i wouldn't know how many people to apologise to in the morning.
But... If you went back in time and became a lawyer specialising in internet law then you would not learn the skills to create the time machine in the first place, which means you couldn't go back in time to become a lawyer specialising in internet law... i think we may have encountered some sort of paradoxic issue with time travel here.
Couldn't agree with you more, being from England myself, CCTV camera's don't bother me in the slightest. Its hardly an invasion of privacy in a PUBLIC place now is it? If i want to do something i don't want other people to see i'll do it in the privacy of my own home(or at least where people can't see me).
It's pretty much a unanimous agreement that the Winning Eleven Soccer series is the premiere soccer franchise
Well... thats not entirely true. In the UK anyway, the hands down winner is Pro Evolution Soccer 5, with FIFA '06 a distant second. In my experience anyone who plays multiplayer PS2 will definitely have a copy of Pro Evo 5. The 4-player action is brilliant fun.
With the recent spate of login problems(European Servers), once or twice a week recently. I would like to know why you don't make an effort to give loyal, paying customers a reasonable explanation or even an estimated time for the servers to be back up again? You are alienating the community and i know many players who are thinking of cancelling their subscription because of the poor quality of customer service we as a community recieve. As an active member of the community who regularly reads the forums i would like to see more communication and response to feedback in the forums.
My summer internship was with ARM in Cambridge, England. I'm working in the cores-support group. The first few days were pretty daunting and a lot of the technical stuff was going over my head. After a week or so though i started to get to grips with my first project, i started to enjoy the work and would definitely consider a career in it in the future. I can definitely recommend people apply here, and if you do well they will sponsor you for your final year at university! which is a nice bonus!
One thing i'm still not quite used to is the amount of Acronyms used, its like people are speaking in code! Luckily there is a glossary on the intranet!
http://www.netvibes.com/ seems to be the alternative that most people are suggesting.

How do you know?
As everyone is.
Wish i had mod points today. I've never read a better explanation of how i feel about the 'Real Life' meme, as mentioned by the GP.
... or it would be a great place, if it wasn't filled with French people!

Did all this mention of Google-y make anyone else think about cricket? Or is that just me?

They've got RADAR(not Radar) on planes now? Wow! Its amazing how they mount that massive rotating 'dish' so thats its invisble to the naked eye.
Slashdot "dupe-posters" ?
The thing is, that the servers are actually down, (22:00 BST). Been trying to log in all evening with no luck!
