If in another universe long long ago a universe was dying and these alien critters wanted to escape or buy themselves some more time. They could have utilized the whole power output of a few galaxies and constructed a device to inflate a bubble of "quantum foam" so they could create a new universe. This was so they could escape to "our" universe when their own universe was winding down and dying due to the forces of entropy.
They could be alive and well billions of light years away and we wouldn't know it, or maybe they are used to conditions in the universe when it starts winding down so maybe they have yet to arrive in this cosmic bubble until the era a red dwarfs and black holes.....
Would they give a flying fsck about the morals of some little critters that managed to evolve some sorta rudimentary intelligence in some backwater galaxy in the middle of nowhere, nope they wouldn't give a fsck.
Our universe could be one of a very long chain of universes created by these beings to escape the fate of their universe. Who knows maybe we will evolve and expand enough so that we may start our own cycle of buying time to live on in newly created basement universes ad infinitum.....

Step 2. Move in for a couple hundred billion years.
Step 3. Create machinery capable of inflating the quamtum foam.

Why not make a "buffer" for the car that can provide the needed acceleration and can be re-charged by either the battery pack or the Stirling engine.

Buy or build a system with a four core processor and 4GB of memory with 4TB of storage with 4x something else, call it a Quad-Quad system. Install the OS you like the most on the system, Install VMware, install the other two OSes you want inside VMware, and you can run ALL THREE AT ONCE!!!! OMG!!!

Then we need to build an artificial crust over the land and sea on earth to make the earth look like a moon-like planet devoid of atmosphere. We can power out artificial sun lamps using geothermal energy. then after we build this crust about 2 miles above the regular surface of the planet we suck all the air out above it and store the air in vast underground tanks. and broadcast into space the news that our race is dying and that the nuclear war is blowing off our atmosphere. We could also cover the new crust with a bunch of nuclear waste to make it all unappealing.
We need to do this now or humanity will be dead, also setup a few stealth colonies deep within the underground of the Jovian and Saturn moons. Maybe a few in some of them in some of the outer solar system objects such as Sedna and Eris. In case they find out our ruse about earth and nuke the planet from orbit we need a backup plan to preserve humanity from the beserkers out there.
Why don't they just ask McCain how life began on earth since he was 12 when the first life on earth formed, he should be able to give the scientists an answer, if the starts in on a stump speech that life begins during conception of chemicals in a prebiotic soup. They need to hit him with the cattle prod until he tells us exactly which chemicals processes were present when life began.
