When Apple had a Mac with the "HYPERDRIVE". Remember it? Don't? Well i won't be surprised, it normally blew out everything. HD,Floppy etc...

I've been using and building computers for 20+ yrs and my first computer was a TI-99.

    Second: Commodore 64.

Third MAC 2E (i bought it used, so no HYPERDRIVE)(fav game was The Art of War)

Cracking a Mac case is NOT a COOL thing for me. I was Cracking Mac cases when i had to lug that obnoxious square bag around DC.

MAc's and Open Machines have been looking alike for a long time. I have to admit that i would love to have the speakers on most of them. Hell just go to the San Diego Supercomputing center and get the thrill of your life!

The first thing when you get in is a MAC and rightly so.

As a person who loves PC's because some person won't charge me $100.00 to $150.00/hr to look at my stylish MAC I will always love them for their efficiency and beauty. Adobe started somewhere and it was on a MAC.

I'm typing on a PC right now and will do so until something else that I can fix pop's up. BTW I can crack a Mac case anytime i want.

  23. Re:do something worthwhile (Read a Damn book!) on Palmtop Nirvana? · · Score: 1

I had a Palm M130 ( the first color one) and i got it because I did not want to carry around heavy books. Back in the day, the only thing around was the Franklin E-book, that sucked and it did'nt really do all the things that i wanted it to.

So i bought the Palm and fell in love with it almost overnight!

As a Desktop and now Tower type, i laughed at a puny hand sized handheld. I was curious and i admit i was incorrect.

I think for almost a year i was attached to this thing! I started wondering what was wrong with me. I had admittedly limited use of WORD and EXCEL but it did all that i asked of it and more.

Bored Reading email? Play a game or read a book.

Hell i read all of Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, William Gibson's Neuromancer series and more on an M130, riding around town using the DC Metro and over here in San Diego now. There was nothing i could do to get that thing away from me. It was almost like the RING from LOTR ROTK. And i thought servers were bad!

That poor PDA croaked while i was doing a job here in SD building the new Ballpark and i accidently left the IR port open and it got fried. I almost cried when i realized what happened. :-(:::

I think Handhelds have proven their usefulness to me and, because (to me); everything electronic does not have to do every doggone thing on planet Earth just to be popular or useful.

We have had a few accidents here in the country. We also have not built a new reactor in 20 years as well.

Security is like an onion, there are many layers that have to be peeled to get to the center.

I noticed you mentioned Richard Marcinko, a person i have worked with and who can get into anything.

He proved it a long time ago and got arrested for it but he did what was necessary to keep this stuff safe.

I can tell you that there are always 2 sides to a point and that folks DO get angry about their job situation ie, Bosses, work going on, the folks you work with on your team etc...

They try their best to do what they have to and it is very hard and dangerous work.

People also get angry about work and slam things that they don't like and that's ok as well as long as the material stays safe. Hell, FBI screwed up this week on something that could compromise our national security but we, the common person, won't hear about it until the Primary.

The material has to be put somewhere and it is vital we take every precaution to make that happen. THis is the reason why secrets ARE secrets and not to be told.

Where, when and why something of this nature is being moved needs to be kept behind closed doors!
