I noticed you worded your post very carefully, so I can't say anything to you directly. However, people like the ones you have described (be it you, or not) make me sick. They are stealing thousands of man hours from people who have poured their lives into this. Whether it be HL2, a movie, or MP3s. Yes, I used to download MP3s when I was a freshman in college, but I don't do it anymore because I've realized the ramifications of it. RIAA be damned, you're still taking money away from the people you claim to support.

As for movies and games, I realize that many people download them as "demos" before going out and actually buying/watching the final product. This is no excuse. That's what demos and movie trailers are for. If that isn't enough for you, wait for reviews. You've waited four odd years already, another month won't kill you. I just find it heartbreaking that people will outright steal the blood, sweat, and tears of other human beings just to save a buck. I guess that's just one of the cons of the capitalist system. (And no, I'm not a communist, so please refrain from "In Soviet Russia, cons have capitalist system!")

Please, just think before you download stuff.

Yes it did. Counterstrike led the pack, setting up such realistic scenarios as 1) blowing up a pile of crates in the middle of the desert 2) blowing up a pile of crates in a slightly different desert 3) blowing up a pile of crates in a small town and 4) blowing up a highly classified, nationally vital Aztec temple. Not to mention showing the world just how instantly lethal being shot in the foot can be.

  12. Would Taxing Be Feasable? on House Passes Internet Tax Ban · · Score: 3, Insightful

Would putting a tax on internet transactions even be feasable? Granted, it would be relatively easy to track sales from huge companies like Amazon, but what about the individual selling stuff off of their own website eBay style? You would literally have to track down every single website that's selling something and make sure they're obeying the tax laws. Also, what about sites that are international? Would these laws be enforcable for us buying things from other countries or people in other countries buying things from us? The internet is a global entity, not just in the USA. I can see taxing e-mails, but I'm not sure how you would effectively tax online sales. Please feel free to explain to me how it could work, because I am interested.
