  1. great... on Wal-Mart Turns Over DVD Rentals to Netflix · · Score: 4, Informative

I live in north Alabama (stop laughing). and yes, Wal-mart is big in my neck of the woods. But if you think Microsoft is evil, you should look at Wal-mart a bit more closely. A town near me at one time had 3 grocery stores. now, they have A wal-mart. 3, count em...3 locally owned buisnesses have been shoulderd out of the picture by a large multi-national company. 3 economy helping buisnesses have closed thier doors. so, now.. you have to shop at wal-mart, or drive 20+ mins to the closest grocery store. I figure that each store had at least 40 employees. that's 120 people now out of a job, and wally world hasn't got that many employees. so... we've increased the unemployment, decreased the number of locally owned buisnesses, and made one hell of a traffic jam. now they want to take out the movie rental places. Somehow i don't think Sam Walton would appreciate this

  2. Why is it... on Microsoft Developing Windows for Low-End Machines · · Score: 1

Every time Microsoft does something new, or blatently uses an open source idea, every one assumes that they are trying to stop linux from propagating? I seriously doubt that microsoft considers linux anything more than an annoyance, because in a buisness sense, they aren't competitors. They know that in the end, if someone wants to use new programs, then they are going to have to buy a computer that will do it. This is probably just a pacification attempt so grandma and grandpa can at least get an idea of what to expect from thier operating system once they get a new dell. Not to mention that they make more money if you buy a piece of software straight from them as opposed to how much they make per copy from OEM's. They are making money, and to some extent keeping the customer reasonably satisfied.

  6. poor them.. on Music Industry Drafts Code of Conduct for ISPs · · Score: 1

i think this is more of a desperation move on thier behalf, you can't stop P2P, you can't scare ISP's into rolling over on thier payroll, people in general don't give a shit, and nobody in the RIAA/MPAA thinks the gov't will do anything without massive bribes. So they do this, a feeble effort to stop something that dosen't matter. but the thing is, if it all stopped, who would they blame for the falling profits? Obviously they don't want to admit they make a shotty overpriced product, and they can't pay the artist's any less for thier efforts, so they are desperately trying to stop a valuable resource from being properly developed because they refuse to stand up for thier short commings. just my two cents

But i wonder how all the "bible thumpers" who are so against cloning of normal animals, will react to the prospect of reviving a 65 million year old creature. i say, clone it... watch it... kill it... and look at what you've got. its too good of an opportunity to pass on. not to mention the revenue a zoo can generate with this thing on display

i have to say it... im so sick and tired of hearing people whine about microsoft and all the evils there in. microsoft may be a monopoly, but it got that way because of the fact that more people like using windows rather than anything else, its easier for them and they are more comfortable with it. now for the current topic of browsers....if you don't like IE, don't use it...i don't, with the exception of getting windows updates with it....yes, i update my OS. people DO have the choice to not use anything microsoft, they just choose not to use the alternative, if they don't know about the other options, go give them some of your free software, and tell them to have a nice day. microsoft isn't going anywhere anytime soon, you can't complain them into defeat, nor can you bankrupt them at this poing, bill has more money than god, and he wants more....ok, not my way, but it works for him. but for the love of god....stop bitching about something you can do nothing about, either educate the public on your views and thier options, or shut the f*ck up. troll modding insues
