    We try to promote cross-functional teams though, so we don't have someone who does "just HTML". They do CSS, javascript, java, write tests, some xquery, xpath, etc...

    a head designer was the guy who coined the term mmorpg. it is in fact the first (graphical, sorry mudders) example of an mmorpg

    its like the original asteroids, without the asteroids, and instead a maze of a bunch of other ships (random people from around the world)

    i think a lot of slashdotters messed with it 10 years ago, and forgot about it

    however, i recently rediscovered it (its free now) and was surprised to find a lot of zones still heavily populated. each zone has a different variation on the basic ship types and their abilities. you can waste 5 minutes or half an hour on it, to great effect

    nothing like meeting a guy in a tank from finland, dodging his mine, blowing him away, while a guy from china materializes out of cloak and shoots you in the back. its cheap and easy mmorpg fun without the massive time commitment something like WoW demands Having played SS/Continuum for about 3 or 4 years, I can't in good faith call it a mmorpg. MMO, yes. RPG no. Even some of the more "creative" arenas were strategy based games.

    It is however, highly entertaining. WZCTF, ftw.

    Come on guys, English is not my first language. Try and keep it consistent for people like me. Call it "CNET is writing rubbish", or something more vigorous.

    I propose an acronym for this behavior, much like FUD... that is "CNET". and it stands for "CNET: Nothing Except Trash". Phoenetically, you can say it as "Seen'it, nothing except trash." making it more suitable for things outside of CNET.

    Blizzard gives you 30 days to return the game for a *full refund* if you don't agree to the TOS and don't wish to play

    They should give you 30 days to return the game for full refund, or partial even, if you don't aggree with any future changes of the TOS. Every patch, one has to agree to the TOS again. It would make them more careful of what they do to the TOS and the game.

    What pisses the shit out of me is that telling someone to fuck off is considered rude and unacceptable, but offending someone without the use of swear words is totally a-ok. Someone once gravely insulted me without uttering one swear word, and in response I said "fuck you." Then she acted like I was completely out of line whereas she had done nothing wrong. WHAT THE FUCK?!

    Yay, an anonymous troll!

    Anyway, I play WoW primarily. Wine works fine with it. I'm getting between 50-70 fps on a gforce6600gt and an athlon64 3500+. Not exactly brand spanking new hardware, yet gameplay is fine.

    If you don't think Linux and friends care about games, or even think about them, you may want to check out discussions of the linux scheduler. Primarily, though, game support comes down to video drivers and picking the most supported card.

    Also, I do my own bit of OpenGL programming in linux for learning purposes.

    You'll have to excuse me for not being able to test the following. I do all my gaming in Linux (no seriously, I do!)

    We all know that if you play music on Vista, it causes a degradation of network performance. What happens if you have a networked game decoding an MP3? Is this all handled in the game's own system, or does it depend on the OS to do it. Do you get a drop in network performance in the game? That would be incredible...

    That is way too broad. A butterfly once flapped its wings, and you once were at a rally which was also attended by enemies of the state. Additionally, this is a nice quote from the article linked:

    I also agree. I used Valgrind back about a year ago or so. It totally rocked. I mostly used it as a profiler, but it also happened to tell me where the leaks where.
