    I never bothered to file a bug report but I could never get mobile data working (Australian telco) with any of the libhybris based OSes (Ubuntu Touch, Sailfish, LuneOS).

    I think it had something to do with replacing the Android ril with ofono and not supporting MVNO properly or something...

    They mention Blink. So it'll be bug-for-bug compatible with upstream Chromium.

    This could be a cross-platform porting strategy for MS: develop a browser skin by embedding Blink and V8. Write a shim around EdgeHTML and ChakraCore to conform to the Chromium embedding API. Gradually replace the non MS code with their own. And as far as JavaScript, they've been working on Node for Chakra already.

    There are a couple of nasty rendering bugs that cause lengthy freezes. It could be my old laptop (C2D, intel graphics) where it is expecting hardware acceleration.

    Selecting/editing text seems to intermittently make it unresponsive. Ask Cortana makes the screen awkwardly repaint.

    Hopefully the Spring creators update fixes these in a couple of weeks.

    That is the price of having friends, they drag you along to socialise. :)

    But pretty much every place I have worked at in the past decade has had a coffee machine of some description. For those that did not, I always brought in a coffee plunger (French press).

    I thought users were complaining that their 2015 era 8-core laptop was slower for web browsing than their 2-core 2009 workstation because using a fifth of the electricity meant lower single-threaded performance.

    So they rewrote their extensions API because the old API couldn't easily be multi-threaded nor easily ported to Servo.

    The second model, the Lumia 640XL, is still officially supported by Windows 10 Mobile.

  23. postMarketOS is getting closer to running KDE's plasma mobile on older generic Android phones you might have lying in a drawer somewhere.

    The guy running this phone effort says he's a debian guy and committed to FOSS. So even if the crowdfunded handset is DOA, perhaps the software stack of Matrix may be portable to devices that people actually own rather than plonking down $600.

    GTK+ isn't the popular choice for touchscreens.

    Qt found a home with Meego, Sailfish, BB OS 10, Ubuntu Touch etc.

    The thing is, Microsoft have a TV and movies section to compete with iTunes/play/amazon.

    Pirate apps would thus deprive them of revenue.
