or Canada for that matter (Canada has no rail service outside of the Toronto-Montreal corridor, it is cheaper and faster to go to Seattle and take the Empire Builder to Chicago and then switch trains than it is to The Canadian from Vancouver to Toronto directly.)

I ended up taking an overnight bus from Montreal to NYC, then catching a plane from La Guardia to Seattle and then a bus to Vancouver.

Still cheaper than travelling from eastern Canada to the west directly!

We're talking drivers here. Things like power management and hardware accelerated media playback.

If these things require APIs that only exist in Windows 10, Intel can't code around them.

So assuming the computer did actually boot in windows 7, graphics might display in compatibility mode and your laptop might only get 3 hours battery life instead of 7.

On the flip side, 'legacy' drivers for Windows 7 won't take advantage of innovations in Windows 10.

So a battery with higher tolerance may solve the issue. Bad batteries vs flawed charging procedure?

Well if Google wants to get into a dick-measuring contest with the iPhone then other manufacturers will take up the slack of missing features:

    Cheaper *is* better.

If you have a Chromecast, why wouldn't it see much use? Not everyone wants to plug a 3m HDMI cable from their 12" laptop to their 50" telly every time they want to watch a youtube presentation.

What would concern me as a FOSS-weenie is yet more closed-source stuff being added to the Chrome platform. If it got added to Chromium with an API to make it simple to plug in non-Google streaming protocols, it could be used with more backends. But since world domination is the key...

  12. Yes, it's a likeness of a living being. That rights to likeness should only apply to persons and not to cats is human chauvinism at its worst.
