Give me a open firmware that is as good (or better) then what you get with an 10+ year old unix machine.

  7. SCADA systems on the Internet on Satellite Views Of The Blackout · · Score: 1

There was a post on bugtraq about the possiblity that the blackout was caused by blaster since a SCADA-system(*) used RPC.

PBS Cyberwar has some intresting information about the possiblity of an attack against these kind of systems.

The effect of a large attack against infrastructure such as powergrids and waterplants together with more "normal" terrorist ways such as suicide-bombers and carbombs paints a frightning picture.

Yep. I had a brief stint in the warez-scene in high school. Ran a hidden ftp-server on a computer connected to the school network. I thought I was really cool until I realised that I was throwing so much time away. It's really easy to get hooked into the warez-scene and all th "l33t" stuff that comes with it. Like using stolen ISP-accounts for "free" (this was in Sweden without flatrate) dialup access or using creditmaster 4000 to make your own compuserve account.

God I don't miss that period of my life...
