    Reply here with your definition (legally sufficent for a court case) of what a web site is ?

    I've developed them for years, written then, installed them rebooted them when they died... but what is the exact definition of a web site ?

    http://www.slashdot.org/ isn't one ... that's a URI or URL ?
    The stuff on the box in the ~slashdot directory ... isn't that the content ?
    www.slashdot.org is a DNS name ?
    The box itself is a server or a computer ?

    After a few decades of systems analysis, especially when the Victorian Rail (Australia) was asked what is a train and didn't get a straight answer - I'm not one to be critical of a judge who states honestly ... that he is somewhat confused as to what a Web Site is.

    Remember, the world doesn't run to US laws.

    In Australia it is legal to circumvent copy protection and region protection ... refer to this starting point for information and links.

    So in all your grand comments, remember the world is 95% not US

    Remember - you bought a disk, some holes, some ink, some plastic and paper - the only part that's not yours is the movie. You are allowed to use that disk for a coaster, microwave it, read it off a bit at a time and look at it all. That's the facts... by most of the worlds laws.

    They did no such thing, they used their own computer, own time, own disk.... at no time did they break into anyone's house, computer....

    I buy a DVD, I own the disk, the holes, the metal - the bits. The only bit I don't own is the actual art content.

    To put it in the context of a book ... I own the paper AND the ink, just not the story.

    I can choose to read the book backwards, skip every second letter - and even read the boring publication bits at the front - all legally.

    So don't give me this crap that reading the bytes off a DVD I own is illegal.

    My password is only protected by me, whilst I protect it.

    The moment my password (which happens to be "ILuvGeorge2008") is divulged to the world by my stupidity, then there is no rule protecting my rights to that password.

    That simple.

    If there was, I'd use Vista as a password, and sue Microsoft for telling everyone what my password is.

    Jeez. Get a reality check in isle -1.

    The constitution protects your right to bear arms, where in the constitution does it say a million is too many, but a hundred is ok ?

    My opinion is that the right to bear arms should be limited to 6 shots (or was it 2) as per the weaponry at the signing of the constitution.

    I'm sure I submitted this story a week ago :)

    Anyway - my experience was at the local mega-computer store, where Microsoft had come in around 2 weeks ago and 'recovered' all the XP media/disks etc... The store is now 100% XP free, overnight.

    Another case, a friend bought a Dell with XP on it - on delivery, it had a free Vista upgrade (and no XP).

    Anyway - it's already happenning.

    The mobs in WoW are so intelligent, that they emulate humans incredibly:

    1. Ignorance: Like people walking down a street when a mugger is mugging an old lady, the mobs ignore all other attacks on fellow beings.
    2. Predicitability: Like normal human beings, they act in entirely predictable ways given the same circumstance. The person goes to work in the morning and gets stuck in traffic, they are suprised. They are equally suprised and annoyed all subsequent mornings when stuck in the same traffic.
    3. Emotional Distraction: When their attention is finally grabbed, the human being will focus on nothing else but the focus of their emotion. To the extent of running their car into a pole whilst watching the scantily clad Night Elf Huntress.

    Yes... of course I am, I said I was using Linux didn't I.

    Yes... insert CD, press 'YES' ... driver worked.

    The simple fact is, that the average person doesn't want Linux, because Linux is not for average people.

    If (like Big Brother TV Reality), Linux was made for the average person, then Linux would be Windows.

    Like it or lump it, the stuff that makes Linux great is also the stuff that makes it (like Firefly the TV show) open only to a small market.

    Well lets see - I had to:
    1. Compile my LAN card driver
    2. VI my X11Config settings to get my monitor to work properly
    3. Manually RPM remove some packages in a circular version loop
    4. Yum update my Printer stuff
    5. Manually set up my network cards using vi /etc/sysconfig/networking

    All this because:
    1. I have a combo printer/fax/scanner
    2. On board lan
    3. Dual DVD monitors of differing resolutions

    So - no, none of the machines I've used linux on in the last 5 years have ever been install and use.

    80% of the universe wants install and use... Linux doesn't provide that.

    Well, I can't speak for Vista, but Windows XP runs on my box without me having to know how to use VI, GCC, Make, Yum, C, C++ and write down IRQs, ports, numbers from the inside of my computer first.

    Having said that - and being able to do that, Linux does indeed have a place in my home/business :)

    Linux will not be a desktop OS for the masses, until ... well ... never.

    Waiting for the OSX release which will natively support Win32 ... then we are rockin'

    When the answer to a user's question "I installed Linux and I can't get the network card working" changes from "You twit, you have done something wrong" to "Yes, there seems to be a problem, how can I help" - that's the day Linux can take over from Windows 98, or any Windows OS.

    Since that day is decades away, Linux will remain in the realm of the guru and server OS it currently is in.
