    Wimax is perfect for rural areas and a smaller telco can much easier make deal with various suppliers for test cases. Intel would be a perfect choice since they are already spending billions on Wimax.

Most supermarkets and high volume shops have an appalling record on price shown on sales items and what is used when the items are scanned. For supermarkets like Tom Thumb it is like 1 in 5 there is a problem with. They use to have a system so the would double the value of any errors but the stopped this as it became too expensive.     Gates have been courting India for quite a while. This move is a political move nothing to do with the merits of the program.

    I really don't care about India but would love to see Bangladesh adopt the OLPC program. They have thanks to Yusun and his Microloan program almost eradicated poverty so they seem to be a more innovative people. Remember 10- 15 years ago you almost always heardf about the plight of Bangladesh? Heard anything lately? I rest my case

    Now try the same argument on speed of the processors and you will find that the market should by and large never use any higher end CPU's.

    The speed increase from a low end to high end is rarely more than 30% but the price is often 2-3X higher.

    By the way combining a high end CPU with a low end Diskdrive is pretty much maximum folly but this is the way they are configured. Resason: People do not know anything about the disks but "know" they "need" the faster Intel chip to make TehIntanet go faster

    Try A9 the amazon search engine. You get a Pi/2 percent (1.57%)discount after a day or twos useage

    It is a wonderful search engine. It is based on Google for normal search but you can add extra panels and having it use diffferent vehichles.

    Doing a Wikipedia search concurrently with a general search is in my oppinion the best of both worlds.

    As dumb as it sound but something like this has actually happened. Michelin the French tire company realized that they would sell more tires if people drove more. So what did they do? They made a tour guide called Guide Michelin.

    It had information that the driver needed but its reason d'etre (pretentious moi!) was the longer scenic routes that were offered as an alternative. While we are at it the early US car companies financed roads as well.

    I know. I thought it was pretty funny notably since the Itanium has done so poorly and the parent posting was so self righteous. In many ways I think /. is getting worse on the insights of its posted comments but the entertainment value of some of the comments is still unsurpassed.
