With games there is at least a small cost for the goods. They come on a disc or a cartridge and in a case, with a manual, and so forth. At iTunes the cost of goods sold is *zero*. The record company's gross margin on an iTunes sale is 100%.

It surprises me that the traffic in these terratories is only 1TB, I have friends that go through more than that in a week of file sharing.

Why are you comparing your "friends" who purportedly share 1TB[sic] of data a week with the London Internet Exchange who monitors about 79272345600MB (604800Tb - 1Tb/s) of data a week? The article also clearly stated that local traffic is most likely equal to international traffic, but not monitored by LINX. Last time I checked the term files weren't to the exclusion of media files.

High quality compared to what? On windows everyone and their mom has a shareware mp3 ripper to hawk to you. Or you could use k3b and not have to worry about grayed out features.

There are a lot more eyes watching some open source projects than those made by development studios. Deadlines imposed by the same studios only add to incomplete features. Microsoft's haggard roadmap to Longhorn, scorn with dropped features is a good example.
