Wine (as mentioned in one of the links) shows up as Windows 98 to microsoft, which, as far as I know, isn't even supported anymore. So, I guess since it isn't supported, it won't be validated or not validated and just lets the user pass through as if it was.
Read your parrent. He uses the guis for design, and the coding side for actual function. And since when are PHP, ASP or JSP or even HTML not languages? I think you're thinking of frontpage, which blows ass for any sort of programming or designing
I think Ubuntu is doing a great job of consolidation, current updates and ease of use. I really wouldn't be surprised if it became the linux distro for the non-techie.
Yep Pelters create tons of heat, and need an external power supply to work, which is why they aren't touched much. Been hearing about them more recently though.
I doubt it. They base those run times on setting a continuous playlist and then see where it dies, and then average it for the life of the pod. The screen after a few seconds of starting the playlist in both ipod color and b/w are just changing a few pixes a second (song title and track position), hardly costing anything in terms of battery life. No backlight is being used, and no songs played that have not been pre-buffered (no fast hard drive spins)
Inherit the Earth by Brian Stableford had a very interesting play on this idea. Instead of creating direct neural interfaces (serial ports in your brain) why not use nanites? By allowing such nanites to create electrical pulses on/in your brain, it could be easily "confused" into thinking some sense was being triggered. That's what I'm waiting for...
Ah, the perfect thing to blackmail your son with. I can see it now...
Ben: Dad, I'm sorry I threw a kegger at your house while you were gone and the place got all F'ed up.
Dad: Well son, you knew what would happen if you did something like this...
Ben: Dad, please, I'd rather you come to school in only your tightie whities than that, please don't.
Dad: Sorry son, but you knew what would happen, I'm going to go make a copy to give to your school for you senior video, and one for your girlfriend...
Yes, and thats because Dell Media PCs suck. Why not be a better friend next time and build a media pc for him. Projectors are sub-$1000 for decent ones, and $2k will get you something much better than a tv. Spend another 2k on a quiet case/cpu and a couple 200gig computers. An AIW for the output (or if the projector takes a standard montior cable, use an onboard nforce video setup), and one of those new HD tuner cards. Now he has $1000 for movies and shit. Geeks don't let non-geeks get dells...
But if edit it, you have to rewrite an entire page if you must submit it to somebody.
Wine doesn't even use MS code, so that's why it's kinda interesting.

Jesus, MOD PARRENT DOWN. What does this have to do with Intel at ALL?

Programming isn't creative? Writing code is all about thinking outside the box, how can you solve x problem?

Google is a geek company, they understand the slashdot effect.
That's what mapquest did...

...without people! Gotta love that.
Carnivore was retired 2 years ago...
Gliders do not rely on propulsion to fly, where 747s do. If an engine or two fails, you're fucked.
Wait wait wait, superior and ie shell in the same sentence. I think not...

Seriously guys, why does e-bay seem to be the second most interesting thing on this site? My conspiracy theory about /. and ebay
I think he's talking about the lack of size that CF players currently have.
Kinda funny how I suggested this article about 2 months ago =(
I bet the guard just wanted some batteries, and didn't want to pay for them. Abuse of power...
Somebody should show Valentini this, I wonder what he'd say...
Val: "You students transfered how much?"
Sunnet: "About 30 movies a minute"
Val: "Un-fucking beli-Oh wait, I already said that..."
