That isn't the first "tech" shoe. I'd say that one of the most tech shoes are the Nike iPod shoes. They keep track of your running on an iPod. Then there are the classic Light-up Shoes. I think they are slightly more techy then heely's. And if you're counting heely's, then you might as well mention pump shoes. A hit back in the 80's, they pump up to give you a snug fit. What is funny is when people play basketball with them on, and come down hard and pop the air bladder inside. Hmm, an exploding shoe... Do those get through airport security?
I had to laugh when I read this comment. I know that my experience is very skewed, and that it isn't at all like the rest of the world. I have 2 cars right now. One from the US, one from Europe. I have a 1997 Geo Metro with a 1.0L 3cyl engine. My other car is a 1979 Porsche 928 with a 4.5L V8. It seems to me that it's not the area that the car is made, but the market that the car is aimed at. I'm sure the culture around influences greatly the types of cars manufactured in a certain area, but there's a little bit of everything everywhere. I don't know about Europe as much, but in the US, your car is a status symbol. It's a competition, like so much of everything here. I can't take full credit for this idea, as it's based on a friend's blog post about eating as a competition, but it seems to fit. I can't play innocent, as I drive my Porsche around, never bringing it up to top speed, and usually even following the speed limits. It's wasteful, but it seems to be part of our culture. Personally, I'm indecisive about whether that's a good thing.
I believe you are thinking of the AO (Adults Only) rating, which is the M equivalent for sexual content. Similar to the difference between R and X. I believe the age range is the same, or at least similar, but the content type is different.
I was pretty sure that this had already been done by Best Buy, so I searched for it, and it looks like that's been covered here, twice. Do you, or anyone else, know if they have actually stopped rebates? I avoid Best Buy, as my experience with them has been pretty poor, so I haven't been keeping up. I get the impression that they haven't eliminated them completely, as a quick search indicates that they still have a rebate center. If Best Buy hasn't kept up to their end of the deal, and nobody seems to mind, what incentive does Office Max have to stay the same?
I'm sorry, but to be politically correct, you must call it "Underprivileged Grammar." If you're going to critique someone else's English, at least get it right yourself.
I am convinced that although the electric bug zappers take out a lot of insects, and can be enjoyable to watch, they also seem to attract all the bugs from your neighbors yards into yours..
What I don't understand is why people who believe that don't give the zappers to their neighbors as gifts. That seems to me to be the logical thing to do. Personally, the mosquitoes haven't bothered me in years. Perhaps I've developed that immunity to them. I get a small bump, the size of a pea, which is gone by the next morning.
So, assuming you're talking about the females in both cases, then perhaps it just repels bloodsuckers? Although, being from MN, I think the humans are slightly less vicious than the mosquitoes.
I really hope that he isn't talking about Rob Pike. To have Darl's brain stuck on the body of a Google Principal Engineer could be hazardous. I mean, I really doubt that Google could stick to their "Don't be evil" slogan. If it does happen, I'll be watching for a major change in this trend. If you thought Darl could do damage with a petty company like SCO, think what he could do with an in at a company like Google. We could be sent back to the stone age, or at least some age before computers.
I believe that it was due to a preemptive strike against his data being stolen. Identity theft is a minor crime in comparison to the horrible people who violate the DMCA.
As funny as your comment is, I believe that your math may be a little off. (310000/5)*[1,2] is [62000,124000]. I believe you did 310000/(5*[1,2]). Either way, it's funny, and I hope that my nitpick does not detract from that.
Just browsing through the history, I found this edit, which was around for about 7 minutes. I don't know if it is the edit the GP was talking about, but it has about the same subject matter. I think that a 7 minute lapse isn't too bad. Unfortunately, I found a couple more edits with similar content. This one lasted 47 minutes, as it was vandalised only 1 minute after it was corrected from another by the same user. As far as I can tell, those are the 3 edits that show signs of vandalism involving the word penis, with a total time of about 55 minutes.
I have some anecdotal evidence to support that claim. A (straight, male) friend of my brother tried to apply at a place such as you mention. This franchise hires almost exclusively women, and when he went in and asked for an application, they refused to even give him one. It is for this reason that I am boycotting this store. The next time I need some new undergarments, I will not go into Victoria's Secret. I suppose that it doesn't hurt them much, as I never shopped there anyway. Perhaps my actions will inspire others, where it might hurt their bottom line.
I believe the GP mentioned WiFi, which has a few more available channels than are available in the US. I know that this means that it wouldn't be crippled like a US version is, but otherwise it wouldn't matter.
That's not the only one that resembles slashdot. I think that there might be a hidden slashdot reference between this comic and this one. Though this story isn't a dupe, that comic is. Could be the most subtle humor I've seen in a while.
I don't know which is funnier, that I read that as that only exists one copy of XP in the world, or that you said genuine copy. The second one sounds like someone trying to sell a sorny or a magnetbox.
By the way, those voices are from Unreal Tournament. It even says so on their website. Looks like good stuff, though. Might have to try it out. Seems that it also plays on Windows and Linux.
Repeat as necessary?

Only $79? That seems too cheap. Are you sure you didn't get a pirate copy?
I believe that the implied gagging must count as a couple syllables.
I keep clicking, and all it does is highlight those words. Maybe I should ask on Qunu for help? Perhaps an Ask Slashdot would work? Any ideas?

That explains why they are seeking the death penalty for this offense. It all makes sense now!

Perhaps you also missed the changing of 'c' to 's'? I think that word is sufficiently obfuscated.
Why must you defame those poor geeks? They would never do something like that.
By the way, those voices are from Unreal Tournament. It even says so on their website. Looks like good stuff, though. Might have to try it out. Seems that it also plays on Windows and Linux.
Something in your comment made me wince. Ouch.
Man, I hope you meant blackmail, 'cause blackmale as a form of retribution is totally different. Not a topic for a family-friendly board such as this.
